he End of the World does not come because of a nuclear war, and it does not come because of the walking dead. The end of the world comes because most of the world's population is going crazy. It begins as people start stuttering and saying incomprehensible things. They cannot help themselves. Whatever has happened to them causes madness. They destroy their neighbors' homes, burn cities, and murder those who have not gone crazy. Every destructive thing they do is hilarious. Every murder is creative and hysterical. They hide around every corner, seeking those who are not like them. High School sweethearts, Matt and Kyra, and trying to reunite with Matt's mother as a historic blizzard hits their town. The three of them must answer many questions as they battle their way through a nightmarish landscape of devastation. What is causing humanity to lose its sanity? Why are some people unaffected by this murderous rage while others have become violent predators? Will they also lose their minds? And ultimately, what happened that turned these people into - LAUGHERS?

Aristotle S Syllogism And The Creation Of Modern Logic written by Lukas M. Verburgt and has been published by Bloomsbury Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-01-26 with Philosophy categories.

Offering a bold new vision on the history of modern logic, Lukas M. Verburgt and Matteo Cosci focus on the lasting impact of Aristotle's syllogism between the 1820s and 1930s. For over two millennia, deductive logic was the syllogism and syllogism was the yardstick of sound human reasoning. During the 19th century, this hegemony fell apart and logicians, including Boole, Frege and Peirce, took deductive logic far beyond its Aristotelian borders. However, contrary to common wisdom, reflections on syllogism were also instrumental to the creation of new logical developments, such as first-order logic and early set theory. This volume presents the period under discussion as one of both tradition and innovation, both continuity and discontinuity. Modern logic broke away from the syllogistic tradition, but without Aristotle's syllogism, modern logic would not have been born. A vital follow up to The Aftermath of Syllogism, this book traces the longue durée history of syllogism from Richard Whately's revival of formal logic in the 1820s through the work of David Hilbert and the Göttingen school up to the 1930s. Bringing together a group of major international experts, it sheds crucial new light on the emergence of modern logic and the roots of analytic philosophy in the 19th and early 20th centuries.

The end of the world arrived at the same time that a massive blizzard hit the city of Colorado Springs. During the storm, people began losing their minds. These people instantly became giddy killers who laughed while they murdered. Every fiendish assault on normal people was hilarious, every death a cause for hysterics. No one was safe from them. They hunted the young and old alike. Joined by an old man and a teenage girl, Reggie must track his psychotic brother through the end of humanity and the raging storm. His brother, Mike, has kidnapped the woman he has only begun to love. Sheena reminds him of a woman he loved long before, who Mike murdered. He is determined not to lose another relationship to his brother, but to save Sheena, he must overcome the great adversity presented by those who cannot control their hysterical madness. The laughers are around every corner, in every shadow, waiting. What Reggie doesn't know is that the laughers are only the beginning of his problems, for someone is coming. A mysterious stranger arrives to warn them. He tells them of a dark force. It has been growing and spreading, in search of those who have escaped the laugher's disease. While Reggie and his new friends hunt Mike and try to save Sheena, an unstoppable force of evil is on its way to Colorado, and it has them in its sights.

They soon became known as the laughers. As Reggie and his band of survivors attempt to settle into the cabin in the woods where they hope to remain hidden, a new horror is brewing. This one is of the human variety. A man, Jonah, is coming for them and he is not intimidated by the destruction of the laughers, or even the laughers themselves. Jonah is not scared by the new state of the world because he created it. He created the disease that has destroyed humanity and changed the majority of the earth's survivors into giddy killers. As Reggie and his friends are about to learn, Jonah and his security forces are coming to Colorado Springs, specifically to find them. Jonah wants them dead and is determined to see his mission through to the end unless of course they are first killed by the maniacal hunters who roam the city streets. Because around every corner, waiting for them is a - Laugher!

Alexander’s essay on the conversion of predicative propositions contains otherwise unknown information about the early history of Aristotle’s logic. The essay survives only in a mutilated Arabic translation. This volume contains a new edition of the text, a translation (the first into any modern language), and a discursive commentary. It will be of interest to anyone concerned with the history of Aristotelianism or with the history of logic.

Writing Jazz written by Nicholas M. Evans and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-12-22 with History categories.

This study examines how early writers of jazz criticism (such as Gilbert Seldes and Carl Van Vechten) and literature (F. Scott Fitzgerald and Langston Hughes)--as well as jazz performers and composers (such as Al Jolson, Sophie Tucker, and George Gershwin)--associated the music directly with questions about identity (racial, ethnic, national, gendered, and sexual) and with historical developments like industrialization. Going beyond the study of melody, harmony, and rhythm, this book's interdisciplinary approach takes seriously the cultural beliefs about jazz that inspired interracial contact, moralistic panic, bohemian slumming, visions of American democracy, and much more. Detailed textual analysis of fiction, nonfiction, film, and musical performance illustrates the complexity of these cultural beliefs in the 1920s and also shows their survival to the present day. In part, jazz absorbed the U.S. cultural imagination due to the nineteenth-century artistic search for music that would define the national character. To the chagrin of Anglo-Saxon nativists, jazz ascended as an exemplar of cultural hybridity and pluralism. The writers and entertainers studied in this volume--most of whom were minorities of Jewish Irish or African heritage--hailed the new social possibilities that they heard and felt in jazz. Yet most of them also qualified their enthusiasm by remaining wary of both the seductions of jazz's commercialization and the loss of ethnic identity in the melting pot.
