L'une des contraintes de l'agriculture en Afrique subsaharienne est la faible productivité des exploitations. Des technologies et techniques de production à haut rendement ont été mises au point par la recherche agricole, cependant celles-ci sont comme c'est le cas au Cameroun, peu adoptées par les exploitants agricoles. Cet ouvrage met en relief les variables qui déterminent l'adoption d'innovations notamment d'innovations agricoles. Les concepts, variables et indicateurs du processus d'adoption des innovations sont l'objet de la première partie. La deuxième partie de cet ouvrage est une étude empirique de la diffusion et de l'adoption d'un ensemble d'innovations agricoles. Les données utilisées sont celles d'une enquète menée auprès de 52 exploitants agricoles producteurs de maïs de la région de l'Ouest-Cameroun. Le choix des innovations est lié à leur disponibilité dans la zone d'étude et prend en compte les contraintes de l'accroissement de la productivité à l'hectare. A l'issue de cette étude des suggestions sont faites en vue d'une plus grande adoption des changements technologiques.
