Il a fallu à l’auteur de ce livre presque 50 ans, pour réussir à mettre enfin par écrit ce qu’il gardait en lui depuis les années dramatiques vécues par sa famille avant, et surtout après l’arrestation, par la Gestapo, à Lusse dans les Vosges, le 28 octobre 1944, de Florent et d’Hubert de Bazelaire de Lesseux, son père et son frère. Leur calvaire, durant 3 mois, dans plusieurs Camps de concentration et leur mort héroïque, Florent à Mauthausen, dans le dénuement le plus total, le 5 février 1945, et Hubert, pendant le trajet en wagon découvert, par un froid sibérien, aux environs du 27 janvier 1945, à l’âge de 18 ans, sont évoqués avec simplicité et vérité. À travers les souvenirs, les lettres et les témoignages recueillis auprès d’anciens Déportés revenus des “Camps de la mort” (dont un a accompagné Jean-Marie à Dachau, Auschwitz, Monowitz, Sosnowitz et Mauthausen), les exemples de Florent et d’Hubert, ces deux serviteurs de la vérité, sont un bel héritage, que chaque membre de leur famille se doit de garder pieusement. Que ce témoignage les aide à le transmettre aux plus jeunes, comme un flambeau pour éclairer leur route et celle de tous ceux qu’ils rencontreront.
