Excerpt from Le Theatre de Versailles Et la Montansier: Extrait de la "Revue de l'Histoire de Versailles Et de Seine-Et-Oise" En 1756, nous retrouvons la mention d'un brevet du Roi per mettant l'exploitation d'une deuxieme salle de spectacle a Ver sailles, rue Royale, en face de la rue de l'orangerie, a gauche du passage conduisant alors aux ecuries des Gardes du corps, et maintenant au quartier de cavalerie. Il y avait la un vaste ter rain donne en 1722 par le Roi a un de ses valets de pied, puis acquis par un sieur Lecomte, gros marchand de fourrages, qui y avait depense, disait-il, livres en constructions. En 1756, ce Lecomte eut l'idee de s'associer avec un nomme Fleury, pour installer dans ce grand immeuble une salle de spectacle qui leur couta livres.
