Le concept de mondialisation fait maintenant partie de notre vocabulaire quotidien. Cependant, ce mot traduit aussi un changement dans la sensibilité contemporaine : grâce au développement de la communication informatique, nous nous rapprochons les uns des autres. Dans ce contexte, le travail social international soulève l'intérêt d'un auditoire dont l'importance ne cesse de croître. Le présent ouvrage présente le travail social tel que conçu, enseigné et pratiqué dans onze pays qui partagent une langue d'origine latine. Nous avons fait appel à des auteurs de différents pays latins d'Europe, la France, la Belgique, la Suisse, l'Italie, l'Espagne et le Portugal. Nous avons obtenu également la collaboration d'auteurs provenant de pays des trois Amériques, pays qui ont été choisis tant pour leur importance dans l'évolution de la discipline du travail social que pour les liens qu'ils ont continué d'entretenir avec l'Europe : l'Argentine, le Chili et le Brésil, le Mexique et le Québec. Un chapitre introductif présente la notion de travail social international. Un dernier chapitre propose une analyse comparative du travail social dans les différents pays présentés. Le pari des auteurs est de démontrer que sur fond de convergence économique et d'une solidarité internationale grandissante, il subsiste encore un nécessaire espace pour les particularités nationales. -- Quatrième de couv.

The title of the Hague Yearbook of International Law reflects the close ties which have always existed between the AAA and the City of The Hague with its international law institutions, and indicates the Yearbook’s aim of devoting attention to developments taking place in the international law institutions based in The Hague. Ordinary social violence, - i.e. recurrent mental or physical aggression occurring between closely related people - structures social relationships in Africa, and in the world. Studies of violence in Africa often refer to ethnic wars and explicit conflicts and do not enter the hidden domain of violence that this book reveals through in-depth anthropological studies from different parts and contexts in Africa. Ordinary violence has its distinctive forms embedded in specific histories and cultures. It is gendered, implicates witchcraft accusations, varies in rural and urban contexts, relates to demographic and socio-economic changes of the past decades and is embedded in the everyday life of many African citizens. The experience of ordinary violence goes beyond the simple notion of victimhood; instead it structures social life and should therefore be a compelling part of the study of social change.
