With his blend of engineering and the fields of personal transformation, Peter Hey takes us on a deep, yet accessible journey into the inner recesses of our minds. He presents a unique model of the mind and the mechanisms that define our behavior. Based on his own personal experiences as the son of a Holocaust survivor, his sessions with his own clients and his background in computer design, he brings the concept of programs in our unconscious as the basic mechanism that determines our actions. Millions of programs operating below our everyday awareness, each of them associated with emotions that, in fact, are the actual power behind our decisions in daily life. Leading Mind explains how these programs are created from all our experiences, starting already at conception, through our time in the mother’s womb, all the way to full adulthood. It also shows how, when accessing our deep unconscious, we discover aspects in us that transcend our current physical life. Based on thousands and thousands of sessions done by practitioners around the world, with remarkably consistent results across cultures, education, social status and personal beliefs. Leading Mind shows how the current events that are impacting our civilization nowadays are the result of our emotional ignorance. It brings to light an urgent call to reform our educational curriculum to teach how our mind works and tools for personal transformation and conflict resolution. Understanding our minds brings tolerance and compassion for all. It gives us the knowledge to change our limiting behaviors. The start of real personal power to direct our lives in the direction that is our authentic individual expression.

Join the global movement that's making corporations more people-centric to achieve great results. The world is facing a global leadership crisis. Seventy-seven percent of leaders think they do a good job of engaging their people, yet 88 percent of employees say their leaders don't engage enough. There is also a high level of suffering in the workplace: 35 percent of employees would forgo a pay raise to see their leaders fired. This is an enormous waste of human talent--despite the fact that $46 billion is spent each year on leadership development. Based on extensive research, including assessments of more than 35,000 leaders and interviews with 250 C-level executives, The Mind of the Leader concludes that organizations and leaders aren't meeting employees' basic human needs of finding meaning, purpose, connection, and genuine happiness in their work. But more than a description of the problem, The Mind of the Leader offers a radical, yet practical, solution. To solve the leadership crisis, organizations need to put people at the center of their strategy. They need to develop managers and executives who lead with three core mental qualities: mindfulness, selflessness, and compassion. Using real-world inspirational examples from Marriott, Accenture, McKinsey & Company, LinkedIn, and many more, The Mind of the Leader shows how this new kind of leadership turns conventional leadership thinking upside down. It represents a radical redefinition of what it takes to be an effective leader--and a practical, hard-nosed solution to every organization's engagement and execution problems.

This book offers a refreshing view of leadership as a psycho-social phenomenon. Attention is drawn to the conceptual muddle which underlies much of managerial practices, particularly in the selection and development of future leaders. Also demonstrated is the conceptual muddle through semantic analysis of the vocabulary used in defining leadership in different languages. The concept of leadership from four different perspectives is examined in detail: leadership as a universal and natural phenomenon; membership and social roles; leadership as a collective process; conceptual models. In addition to the theoretical models, the author discusses patterns of influence and use and abuse of power. Consistent with his emphasis on the reciprocal nature of leadership, he complements his analysis of leading behavior by insightful analysis of the phenomenon of obedience: the psychological and cultural foundations of obedience; patterns of obedience; the collusion of leaders and followers in the abuse of power. The author''s conceptualization of leadership challenges much of our conventional wisdom and traditional notions. He questions, for example, the universality of intelligence, dominance, aggressiveness and extraversion as predictors of leadership potential. Instead of imposing an ideal model of leadership, he lays the philosophical foundations that allow institutions to make their own choice of the model (or models) best suited for their values and unique historical circumstances. As such, the book can best be described as an interdisciplinary and cross-cultural guide for policy makers, particularly those concerned with the selection and training of leaders.

A tour de force for the Future of Leadership ...We exist in a new reality, a global world where the individuated power of the mind/brain offers possibilities beyond our imagination. It is within this framework that thought leading emerges, and when married to our collaborative nature, makes the impossible an everyday occurrence. Leading with the Future in Mind, building on profound insights unleashed by recent findings in neuroscience, provides a new view that converges leadership, knowledge and learning for individual and organizational advancement. This book provides a research-based tour de force for the future of leadership. Moving from the leadership of the past, for the few at the top, using authority as the explanation, we now find leadership emerging from all levels of the organization, with knowledge as the explanation. The future will be owned by the organizations that understand and can master the relationships between knowledge and leadership. Being familiar with the role of a knowledge worker is not the same as understanding the role of a knowledge leader. As the key ingredient, collaboration is much more than "getting along"; it embraces and engages. Knowledge and leadership, a quality of organizations, have always been in relationship. However, the significant mental growth emerging throughout the 20th century-where individuals at all levels began to expand their capacity to learn-and the expansion of the capacity for social knowledge in the interconnected world of the 21st century has propelled humanity into a new age. Knowledge-and the responsibility for how that knowledge is used-sits squarely on the shoulders of leadership at all levels. The nature of the organization has moved beyond the factory and process metaphor, and is now understood as an intelligent complex adaptive system (ICAS). Leading with the Future in Mind covers the essentials of working, learning, and leading in an ICAS, covering knowledge and complexity, but also passion and spiritual energy. As social creatures living in an entangled world, our brains are linked together. We are in continuous interaction with those around us, and the brain is continuously changing in response. Wrapped in the mantle of collaborative leadership and engaging our full resources-physical, mental, emotional and spiritual-we open the door to possibilities. We are dreaming the future together.
