Learning To Live With Climate Change written by Blanche Verlie and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-06-16 with Nature categories.
This imaginative and empowering book explores the ways that our emotions entangle us with climate change and offers strategies for engaging with climate anxiety that can contribute to social transformation. Climate educator Blanche Verlie draws on feminist, more-than-human and affect theories to argue that people in high-carbon societies need to learn to ‘live-with’ climate change: to appreciate that human lives are interconnected with the climate, and to cultivate the emotional capacities needed to respond to the climate crisis. Learning to Live with Climate Change explores the cultural, interpersonal and sociological dimensions of ecological distress. The book engages with Australia’s 2019/2020 ‘Black Summer’ of bushfires and smoke, undergraduate students’ experiences of climate change, and contemporary activist movements such as the youth strikes for climate. Verlie outlines how we can collectively attune to, live with, and respond to the unsettling realities of climate collapse while counteracting domineering ideals of ‘climate control.’ This impressive and timely work is both deeply philosophical and immediately practical. Its accessible style and real-world relevance ensure it will be valued by those researching, studying and working in diverse fields such as sustainability education, climate communication, human geography, cultural studies, environmental sociology and eco-psychology, as well as the broader public. Learning To Live Together Promoting Social Harmony written by J. A. Scott Kelso and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-05-30 with Social Science categories.
This book is devoted to the issue of how we can learn to live together in the face of division and conflict. It is dedicated to the life and work of a remarkable human being, Dr Epimenidis Haidemenakis, scientist, statesman, visionary leader, President Emeritus of the International S.T.E.P.S. Foundation and founding father of The Olympiads of the Mind (OM). The monograph consists of a collection of papers presented at the 8th and 9th Olympiads of the Mind held in Washington, DC and Chania, Crete respectively. Distinguished international scholars, government and corporate representatives, leading researchers and academics from multiple disciplines and Nobel Laureates Leon Lederman (Physics, 1988), Martin Perl (Physics, 1995) and Yuan T. Lee (Chemistry, 1986) address a broad range of issues all with the aim of improving the human condition and achieving cooperation among the people of the world. The topics include the environment, sustainability and security; diversity and how to achieve integration and peace among people in a fractured world; the important role of brain research; how to overcome poverty and inequality; how to enhance creativity and improve education at all levels; and how new technologies and tools can be used for common benefit. The culmination of the book is a call to action, to join what one might call the “OM Movement”—bringing the best minds in the world together to create solutions to world issues so that we can all live together in harmony.

What affective manifestations accompany fatigue? What are the characteristics of mental fatigue? What activities help us to rest? How to improve the quality of sleep? Why laughter and good humor help to rest? How to achieve a psychological balance that prevents burn-out? How is rest related to happiness? How to avoid worries? This book is the fruit of many years of professional dedication to treating physical and psychological problems related to stress and anxiety, caused by excess work or having to meet deadlines, without taking time off to relax and recover one's energies. In other words, the problems derived from an imbalance between tiredness and rest. My main purpose is to show how to prevent psychological fatigue (both emotional and intellectual), especially the tiredness that accumulates over time and ends up becoming chronic. This kind of tiredness passes unnoticed for years, and is not easy to treat. Physical tiredness, however, is easy to detect and remedy. Fernando Sarráis, has a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from the University of the Basque Country, a Doctor of Medicine and Surgery from the University of Navarra and a Bachelor of Psychology from the National University of Distance Education (UNED). Specialist in Psychiatry, since August 1998, he also works as Adjunct Professor of Educational Psychopathology and Social Psychology at the University of Navarra.

"Cogent, interesting, and provocative."-from the foreword by Ann Lieberman Teaching What They Learn, Learning What They Live explores the multiple social, political, and epistemological domains that comprise learning-to-teach. Based on a study of eight beginning English teachers at four different university teacher preparation programs, this book examines the ways in which beginning teachers' personal dispositions and conceptions combines with their teacher preparation programs' professional knowledge and contexts to form their understandings of and approaches toward teaching. Brad Olsen recasts learning-to-teach as a continuous, situated identity process in which prior experiences produce deeply embedded ways of viewing the world that go on to organize current/future experience into meaning. Since experience shapes learning and everyone acquires different sets of experience, no individual teacher's knowledge is exactly like another's. Yet Olsen shows also that the process by which a teacher constructs professional knowledge is common: the what of teacher knowledge varies, but the how remains the same.
