Es geht um weit mehr als einen Schulstreit. Alles, was in Sach- und Fachkompetenzen nicht aufgeht, soll in der schönen neuen Lernwelt keinen Ort mehr haben. Menschen aber nur auf ihre Kompetenzen hin anzusehen, das heißt, sie wie Maschinen anzusehen. Lehrer zu Kompetenzbeschaffungsgehilfen zu reduzieren heißt, sie zu entwürdigen. Das müssen sie sich nicht bieten lassen. Sie sind zu ihrer Selbstdegradierung und -abschaffung nicht verpflichtet, wohl aber zur Rückbesinnung darauf, was Lehren eigentlich ist.

Religiöse Praxis hat stets auch mit Dingen zu tun. Dinge werden bewegt, berührt, in die Hand genommen, aufbewahrt, abgelegt, aufgestellt, geküsst. Rechnet man auch Nahrungsmittel zu den "Dingen", werden diese auch ausgeteilt, gereicht, gegessen und getrunken. Dabei zeigt sich, dass Dinge nicht nur Objekte im Sinn von passiven Gebrauchsgegenständen sind, an und mit denen religiöse Handlungen vollzogen werden. Vielmehr kommt ihnen auch eine aktive Rolle zu. Dinge fordern zum Handeln heraus, evozieren körperliche Bewegungsmuster, verbale Reaktionen und lösen Assoziationen und Erinnerungen an Vergangenes aus. Dinge "agieren" im Kontext religiöser Praxis gleichsam wie Akteure. Sie werden positioniert und sind zugleich selbst Subjekt religiöser Positionierungspraxis. Der doppelt lesbare Genitiv der Formel "Positionierung der Dinge" will diese spezifische Doppelrolle materieller Dinge zur Geltung bringen. Der vorliegende Band knüpft an den interdisziplinären Forschungsschwerpunkt "Religiöse Positionierung. Modalitäten und Konstellationen in jüdischen, christlichen und islamischen Kontexten" an und versammelt Beiträge zur Materialität und Performativität religiöser Praxis aus unterschiedlichen fachwissenschaftlichen Perspektiven.
