Les artistes américains et le Louvre " explore les origines des échanges artistiques entre la France et les Etats-Unis dès le XVIIIe siècle, et pour la première fois met en lumière le rôle d'académie libre que joua longtemps le musée pour les artistes d'outre-Atlantique. Munich's Academy of Fine Arts, founded in 1808, became one of the most important institutions In Europe for training artists in the second half of the 19th century. The Academy attracted students from across Europe, and the United States.
