Qu’on s’en réjouisse ou qu’on le déplore, les études postcoloniales, issues du monde anglophone, font désormais partie de notre horizon critique. Nous n’en sommes donc plus au stade où il faudrait encore et toujours les acclimater en France et dans le domaine francophone. Les auteurs de ce volume en prennent résolument acte et, en se fondant sur la vitalité des créations qu’elles ont eues pour objet, ils interrogent les postures, intellectuelles ou littéraires, que les littératures et les études postcoloniales ont rendu possibles. Dans leur vocation politique et pluridisciplinaire, les productions postcoloniales ont en effet contesté les rapports de force et les hiérarchies qui ordonnaient habituellement les champs du savoir et de la littérature, en étroit lien avec l’exercice ou l’héritage des dominations coloniales. Auteurs et penseurs postcoloniaux ont ainsi pris position contre un ordre dominant du discours. Mais les manières dont ils ont accompli ce geste créateur et critique constituent autant de postures, qui ont elles-mêmes une histoire et une mémoire. Comment se déclinent-elles ? Quels sont leurs modèles ? Quels sont ceux qui les incarnent aujourd’hui dans le monde francophone ? Centré sur les domaines africains et antillais, l’ouvrage propose un premier tour d’horizon en se concentrant sur certaines pratiques (l’autobiographie, l’essai, le roman, le théâtre...) et sur certaines figures majeures du postcolonialisme littéraire et philosophique (Valentin-Yves Mudimbe, Aimé Césaire, Édouard Glissant…).
