Le présent ouvrage est issu d'un travail pluridisciplinaire sur les langages de la ville proposés comme thème du colloque organisé à l'Université d'Istanbul (CongIST'2019). Tsala Effa abordent la ville sous ses divers aspects ; chacun des articles propose une réflexion sémiotique sur la manière dont le sens s'organise dans et pour la ville. La deuxième partie traite de l'appréhension de la ville dans le discours social et politique. Sous le titre général de La ville comme acteur politique et social, I. Klock-Fontanille, D. Öztin Passerat, N. Öztokat Kılıçeri, A. Djeghar et A. Djeghar, I. Arkhis et A. Balcou traitent de la pluralité relations socio-politiques tissées à travers la ville pour aborder le rapport de forces régissant les systèmes socio-discursifs. La troisième partie de cet ouvrage, Poétique, esthétique et écriture de la ville regroupe les articles proposant des analyses de l'esthétique urbaine dans les œuvres littéraires et cinématographiques.
