Raymond Queneau S Ch Ne Et Chien written by Raymond Queneau and has been published by Peter Lang Incorporated, International Academic Publishers this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1995 with Fiction categories.

The French writer Raymond Queneau (1903-1976) is coming to be recognized as one of the major voices in 20th-century literature. Although twelve of his novels have been translated, Chêne et Chien, considered by specialists to be the keystone of his oeuvre, has not until now been available in English. Labeled a «novel in verse» by Queneau, this autobiographical poem recounts the poet's childhood, portions of that childhood revisited through psychoanalysis, and finally his joy at finding himself whole. The translator's introduction situates the work in Queneau's life and oeuvre, addresses the problem of poetry as autobiography, examines the structure of the poem itself and discusses the difficulties of translating Queneu's many moods and rich wordplay into English verse. Explanatory notes complete the volume.

This work looks at the surge of Bretons who left their homes in Western France in the latter half of the 19th century to live and work in Paris. Portrayed as backward, ignorant peasants they found no welcome until after WWII. Moch positions her work within immigration theory, connecting migration studies to theories about state projects of assimilation and about cultures of inclusion and exclusion.

Professor Zarnecki is the leading authority on English medieval sculpture. The present volume has assembled his major articles on Romanesque art published before 1979. These studies are primarily concerned with the changes that took place in English sculpture during the eleventh and twelfth centuries, and attempt to set developments in English art over this period within a European context. The volume also deals with Romanesque sculpture in France and Italy, together with metalwork and woodcarving in England, and includes a number of important iconographical studies. The author has up-dated his earlier studies to incorporate the results of subsequent research, and has augmented several studies with added bibliographical notes or references to more recent discoveries. Additional illustrations have been added where necessary, including photographs of a number of monuments which were previously unpublished.

Cinema has been long associated with France, dating back to 1895, when Louis and Auguste Lumi_re screened their works, the first public viewing of films anywhere. Early silent pioneers Georges MZli_s, Alice Guy BlachZ and others followed in the footsteps of the Lumi_re brothers and the tradition of important filmmaking continued throughout the 20th century and beyond. In Encyclopedia of French Film Directors, Philippe Rège identifies every French director who has made at least one feature film since 1895. From undisputed masters to obscure one-timers, nearly 3,000 directors are cited here, including at least 200 filmmakers not mentioned in similar books published in France. Each director's entry contains a brief biographical summary, including dates and places of birth and death; information on the individual's education and professional training; and other pertinent details, such as real names (when the filmmaker uses a pseudonym). The entries also provide complete filmographies, including credits for feature films, shorts, documentaries, and television work. Some of the most important names in the history of film can be found in this encyclopedia, from masters of the Golden Age_Jean Renoir and RenZ Clair_to French New Wave artists such as Fran_ois Truffaut and Jean-Luc Godard.

Courir Les Rues written by Raymond Queneau and has been published by Carcanet Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013 with Poetry categories.

Taxi drivers, street sweepers, a bouquiniste, unsuccessful prostitutes, a menaced bicycle rider, noisy children, an old woman shunted aside in a crowd, and some disgruntled animals at the zoo populate these poems. Unreeling like a series of clips recorded during a stroll through Paris, the book is wickedly funny, but it is also a bittersweet meditation on how "the river of forgetfulness carries away the city." This is the poet's love letter to Paris--a Paris that is always in the process of becoming superannuated. Rachel Galvin's lively, idiomatic version is the first complete translation available in English.
