In einer Zeit, in der zunehmend das Selbstgesteuerte Lernen an Schulen gefordert wird und gefördert werden soll, ist die individuelle Förderung von Lernstrategien wichtig. Sie bilden das Fundament, auf dem Selbstgesteuertes Lernen stattfinden kann. Ohne solche Strategien werden Schüler überfordert und können nicht in dem Maße selbstbestimmt handeln, wie es vorgesehen ist. Sie sind weiterhin auf Hilfe und Anleitung angewiesen, die nicht nötig wäre, wenn man den Schülern einige grundlegende Lernstrategien an die Hand geben würde. So wird auch der Zusammenhang des Themas dieser Hausarbeit zum Hauptthema „Individuelle Förderung von Lernstrategien“ schnell ersichtlich. „Lernen“ wird grundsätzlich als umweltbedingte, relativ überdauernde Ausbildung und Korrektur von Gedächtnisbesitz angesehen (vgl. Klix 1971: 348; Daugs & Blischke 1984: 381). „Eine Strategie ist ein genauer Plan des eigenen Vorgehens, der dazu dient, [...] ein Ziel zu erreichen“ (Duden 1994: 1306). Um diesen Plan umsetzen zu können und ein effektives Lernen zu erreichen, müssen Techniken und Methoden benutzt werden. Eine sehr wesentliche Technik ist dabei die Lesetechnik. In fast allen Bereichen ist es wichtig und notwendig, schnell und effektiv zu lesen und wird zum Teil sogar gefordert oder vorausgesetzt. In folgender Hausarbeit sollen die Bedeutung der Leseförderung herausgestellt und verschiedene Lesetechniken erläutert werden. Der wichtigste Punkt ist jedoch die Übertragbarkeit auf die Schule, wie man also konkret das Lesen fördern kann. Zunächst wird die Bedeutung der Leseförderung durch die Ergebnisse der Pisa - Studie untermauert, es werden einige grundlegende Informationen zum Lesen vermittelt und verschiedene Lesetechniken vorgestellt. Im dritten Teil werden Techniken, die das schnelle Lesen als Ziel haben, genauer untersucht und auf Grundlage der ersten vier Abschnitte wird im fünften Teil die Übertragbarkeit auf die Schule geprüft.

Education is a hot topic. From the stage of presidential debates to tonight's dinner table, it is an issue that most Americans are deeply concerned about. While there are many strategies for improving the educational process, we need a way to find out what works and what doesn't work as well. Educational assessment seeks to determine just how well students are learning and is an integral part of our quest for improved education. The nation is pinning greater expectations on educational assessment than ever before. We look to these assessment tools when documenting whether students and institutions are truly meeting education goals. But we must stop and ask a crucial question: What kind of assessment is most effective? At a time when traditional testing is subject to increasing criticism, research suggests that new, exciting approaches to assessment may be on the horizon. Advances in the sciences of how people learn and how to measure such learning offer the hope of developing new kinds of assessments-assessments that help students succeed in school by making as clear as possible the nature of their accomplishments and the progress of their learning. Knowing What Students Know essentially explains how expanding knowledge in the scientific fields of human learning and educational measurement can form the foundations of an improved approach to assessment. These advances suggest ways that the targets of assessment-what students know and how well they know it-as well as the methods used to make inferences about student learning can be made more valid and instructionally useful.
