Ninety-seven people in the world are dying every minute without Christ and are perishing. Among them are your friends, relatives, associates, and neighbors. What is more, the church is continuing to decline at a rate of about one per cent per year. Theoretically, at that rate by the turn of the century the visible protestant church in the United States will cease to exist. To make matters even worse, a large percentage of the churches' membership is complacent and inactive. If there was ever a time that Christians need to rise up and do something, that time is NOW! In this book Rev. JC discusses the challenges facing you and your church. From a biblical point of view he leads you through the problems in detail that are troubling your church and threatening its future - and you as well! For what will you do when your church has to close its doors as so many churches have already been forced to do? What can you as a Christian do to reach out to the perishing and to resolve the problems plaguing your parish? To find out, read this book. For Rev. JC not only presents the problems but offers scripturally sound solutions and plans to point you onto the right track and get you started in letting your light shine.

Let Your Light Shine gathers a variety of sermons Father Bruce McNab has preached to local residents and visitors from across the world worshiping in Christ Episcopal Church, Aspen, Colorado, one of America’s best-known alpine resort communities, where he serves as pastor. Words spoken in a thought-provoking but accessible manner, offered here in written form, invite the reader to make a thoughtful, personal response to Jesus’ invitation, “Come, follow me.” The author presents following Christ not as simply a one-time decision, but as a choice that must be made repeatedly, frequently in difficult circumstances. Sermons in this book vibrate with themes of choice, doubt, faith, freedom, and the challenges of discipleship, illustrated by stories of personal spiritual experience.

Jesus is The Prophet. Every word that comes from His lips is prophetic. Every expression of His will is prophetic. Every work of His Spirit is prophetic. The Holy Spirit is the conveyer of truth to the church both in words and deeds; and the church is to be a picture of that very truth to its community and world. Prophecy is far more than words or visions. Prophecy is a life lived individually and in a gathered community that bears testimony to God and His redemptive work. Prophecy isn't restricted to the simple understanding of the prophetic ministry that most charismatics espouse. True prophecy always, without exception and in every way, lifts up Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

Light (phos) means to give light. It is that which enables us to see (able to clearly distinguish between right and wrong). It is the intellectual, moral, and spiritual element by which we may see (Matthew 6:23). Jesus Christ is the light of the world (John 1:9) and the children of light is a term for true disciple (Luke 16:8 and Ephesians 1:8). God is the source of this light as the sun is the other. Through our light, we make God visible to all men and demonstrate that His love transcends all that is wrong with this world. Light defines the very essence of the children of God. It is a word that is used throughout The Holy Bible 264 times! It is characterized as an element that: Illuminates, Shines, Exposes and expels darkness, Projects and extends brightness, Causes one to see, Radiates, and Reveals. Light is described as an element that represents: Radiance (Matthew 7:12); Spiritual awareness and right living (1 John 1:7); A characteristic of God (Psalm 27:1); The opposite of darkness (Genesis 1:3-4); Illuminates (Matthew 6:22); Leads the way (Micah 7:8); and the Glory of God (1 Timothy 6:16). The biblical message, biblical preaching, and biblical teaching in this devotional/gift book come from Old Testament and New Testament Scriptures. Matthew 5:13-16 serves as biblical study and, in essence, the biblical thought for the day relative to the significance of the word light. Discover the purpose drive life and rediscovering the kingdom of God are keys to this best-selling devotional and gift book. Now in its third printing, and selling strong, this devotional and gift book, serves as a companion to book 2: Called to be Light in the Workplace.

Letting His Light Shine Through: Confessions of a Wicked Man is a story of hope and redemption, as well as a call to arms. This book could also in ways be described as an instruction manual of sorts for new/young Christians. As we navigate through our Christian walk, we are going to have seasons of vast spiritual growth, change, and inevitable sorrow, shame, or grief. How we handle the latter will inevitably cause either more spiritual growth or cause us to lose focus on the Lord given our circumstances. At times it may feel as if you are just spinning your tires, but I assure you God is with you. He is refining you in the fire that you may become purified and as precious as gold. Trials are a given when it comes to growing spiritually; Peter, James, and Paul spoke of this (1 Pet. 5:10 NIV, Jas. 1:12 NIV, and 1 Cor. 10:13 NIV). I feel called to bring to light the need for transparency in Christian leadership and just as importantly in our personal relationships. The reason for this is quite simple; making our struggles, sin, and temptations transparent to others is encouraging. We don't have it all together and that's okay! We are all sinners, and I firmly believe that as followers of Christ we are to act that way. I'm not advocating in the name of sin. I'm advocating in the name of the one who bore our sin. What I've come to learn over the years, and it took many, is that "God never wanted perfect; he just wanted my heart" (Cory Asbury). Whether we like it or not, the world we live in views us as hypocrites. They see us as hateful, spiteful, and bigoted. Not very surprising given that many of us are. I know that stings a little, but that's because it's so true. I think if we spent more time focusing on sharing the good things God has done, is doing, and will do we could change the world. We all have opportunities in our own lives, workplaces, and communities to share the love of Jesus. But here's the thing; I believe that if we are more transparent with our real feelings, own sin, and the transforming love of Jesus, only then will the world see Christianity the way that we see Christianity.

Some five or six years ago I had the opportunity to speak at a womens prayer breakfast in my hometown. The theme for that prayer breakfast was Christian Women, Showing Compassion and Making a Difference. In contemplating what I would use for a subject, God gave me the message Let Your Light Shine The message came from Matthew chapter 5 verses 1-15, but the main thought came from verse 14 where Jesus told His disciples you are the light of the world. This book is a direct result of the thoughts that God gave me. That message was not only for those gathered for the prayer breakfast, but it was for me also. I had found my purpose, which was and still is to be a light, one that shines forth for Jesus Christ.
