Excerpt from Comparison of Guru Nanak With Jesus Christ Guru Nanak's life being a better example to be followed by the humankind at large than Christ's. I am inclined to make comparison of Nanak with Jesus, the founder of Chris; tian religion, in order to show that' we can get more advantages if we set the life of Guru Nanak before us in our practical lives than we can do by that of Christ. Born in 1469 at Talwandi he engaged himself in religious devotions, and aspired to produce a religions acceptable to both the Hindus and the Muslims. He traveled with a faithful servant, preaching and composing hymns, through the lenth and breadth of the country and to far away Cylon and Mecca. Mardana was instructed to strain every nerve to bring Nanak back to his home. He was to be reminded of all his connections. The condition of his wife and children after him was to drawn before his eyes and his heart was to be appealed to, as it was the heart that played the foremost part in him. With this mission Mardana reached Sultanpore, when Guru Nanak had already left the town again and was residing in the jungle. Bhai Mardana. 57 his lips to fulfil his mission, and, instead of converting the Guru, for which object he had come, he himself became a convert and disciple. He determined to spend the rest of his life in the Guru's service, notwithstanding the Guru telling him that he would have to suffer hunger and privations, in so doing.
