Penyakit Jantung Koroner (PJK) menjadi masalah kesehatan dunia. Laporan World Health Statistic 2008, tercatat 17,3 juta orang meninggal dunia atau setara dengan 30 persen kematian di seluruh dunia disebabkan PJK. Tahun 2011, di negara Asia dan Pasifik telah terjadi 17.050 kematian disebabkan penyakit jantung, 7.825 kematian karena PJK dan 2.476 kematian karena infark miokard. Prevalensi PJK terjadi di seluruh negara, diproyeksikan di negara maju dan berkembang PJK menjadi penyebab utama kematian selama 20 tahun ke depan. WHO sepuluh tahun terakhir melaporkan negara-negara berpenghasilan rendah dan menengah lebih dari 80 persen kematian akibat PJK dapat ditemukan, PJK menjadi penyebab kematian dan kecacatan nomor satu di dunia. Era global di daerah tertentu di Indonesia trend perilaku gaya hidup sehat dipengaruhi oleh gaya hidup tidak sehat masyarakat; minum kopi, merokok, pola makan, aktivitas fisik dan pengendalian stres tidak tertata dengan baik sehingga akan mengakibatkan PJK. Terhadap perilaku hidup tidak sehat ini, dapat dilakukan pencegahan melalui promotif dan preventif, pencegahan PJK melalui kebijakan bersyariat yang berwawasan syariat Islam atau budaya dari kearifan lokal. Buku ini membantu mengatasi pencegahan PJK. There is no longer any doubt that the inherited genetic constitution of the individual has a large influence on the entire life cycle, from human fetal development and pre- and postnatal growth to subsequent health status. However, growing evidence suggests that this predisposition is not rigid, but that early genetic imprinting, caused by exposure to a diverse spectrum of nutrients, macromolecules, microbial agents and other cellular or soluble components present in the external environment, is also of importance. According to this concept of the developmental origins of adult diseases, intrauterine and early life events play an important role in the etiology of human diseases: there seems to exist a critical 'window of opportunity' in the human infant before and during pregnancy, and up to 24 months of age. Altered exposure to different environmental agents during this critical period may determine the nature of responses in the perinatal period, and the expression of specific disease states in later life. The papers presented in this publication thus focus on the impact of perinatal growth, nutrition, environmental microflora, and host immune responses on the outcome of health and disease in later life.
