Linearization models for discrete and continuous time dynamical systems are the driving forces for modern geometric function theory and composition operator theory on function spaces. This book focuses on a systematic survey and detailed treatment of linearization models for one-parameter semigroups, Schröder’s and Abel’s functional equations, and various classes of univalent functions which serve as intertwining mappings for nonlinear and linear semigroups. These topics are applicable to the study of problems in complex analysis, stochastic and evolution processes and approximation theory.

Nonlinear Dynamical Systems And Carleman Linearization written by Krzysztof Kowalski and has been published by World Scientific this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1991-03-26 with Mathematics categories.

The Carleman linearization has become a new powerful tool in the study of nonlinear dynamical systems. Nevertheless, there is the general lack of familiarity with the Carleman embedding technique among those working in the field of nonlinear models. This book provides a systematic presentation of the Carleman linearization, its generalizations and applications. It also includes a review of existing alternative methods for linearization of nonlinear dynamical systems. There are probably no books covering such a wide spectrum of linearization algorithms. This book also gives a comprehensive introduction to the Kronecker product of matrices, whereas most books deal with it only superficially. The Kronecker product of matrices plays an important role in mathematics and in applications found in theoretical physics.

This contributed volume presents some of the latest research related to model order reduction of complex dynamical systems with a focus on time-dependent problems. Chapters are written by leading researchers and users of model order reduction techniques and are based on presentations given at the 2019 edition of the workshop series Model Reduction of Complex Dynamical Systems - MODRED, held at the University of Graz in Austria. The topics considered can be divided into five categories: system-theoretic methods, such as balanced truncation, Hankel norm approximation, and reduced-basis methods; data-driven methods, including Loewner matrix and pencil-based approaches, dynamic mode decomposition, and kernel-based methods; surrogate modeling for design and optimization, with special emphasis on control and data assimilation; model reduction methods in applications, such as control and network systems, computational electromagnetics, structural mechanics, and fluid dynamics; and model order reduction software packages and benchmarks. This volume will be an ideal resource for graduate students and researchers in all areas of model reduction, as well as those working in applied mathematics and theoretical informatics.

For most cases of interest, exact solutions to nonlinear equations describing stochastic dynamical systems are not available. This book details the relatively simple and popular linearization techniques available, covering theory as well as application. It examines models with continuous external and parametric excitations, those that cover the majority of known approaches.

The ?eld of applied nonlinear dynamics has attracted scientists and engineers across many different disciplines to develop innovative ideas and methods to study c- plex behavior exhibited by relatively simple systems. Examples include: population dynamics, ?uidization processes, applied optics, stochastic resonance, ?ocking and ?ightformations, lasers, andmechanicalandelectricaloscillators. Acommontheme among these and many other examples is the underlying universal laws of nonl- ear science that govern the behavior, in space and time, of a given system. These laws are universal in the sense that they transcend the model-speci?c features of a system and so they can be readily applied to explain and predict the behavior of a wide ranging phenomena, natural and arti?cial ones. Thus the emphasis in the past decades has been in explaining nonlinear phenomena with signi?cantly less att- tion paid to exploiting the rich behavior of nonlinear systems to design and fabricate new devices that can operate more ef?ciently. Recently, there has been a series of meetings on topics such as Experimental Chaos, Neural Coding, and Stochastic Resonance, which have brought together many researchers in the ?eld of nonlinear dynamics to discuss, mainly, theoretical ideas that may have the potential for further implementation. In contrast, the goal of the 2007 ICAND (International Conference on Applied Nonlinear Dynamics) was focused more sharply on the implementation of theoretical ideas into actual - vices and systems.

As pointed out by other researchers, hybrid structures in ocean engineering are based on flat concrete foundations. Due to wave action these foundations are exposed to different pressure distributions on the top and bottom sides. As a result, the bottom side is exposed to a saddle type pressure distribution leading to huge forces on the foundation. Indeed, such huge forces have been observed at a number of offshore platforms installed in the North Sea. In an attempt to turn a problem into an advantage, the concept in this work aims to develop an integrated system to harness and harvest ocean wave energy right at the seabed. The long-term interest is to develop integrated devices that can be used as actuators or sensors, which, due to low manufacturing cost, can be employed in large quantities for control of ocean engineering systems, e.g., maritime renewable power-plants, or monitoring of marine processes, e.g., oceanographic sensing. A key element to the proposed system is the nonlinear coupled electromechanical oscillator unit, the dynamics of which are investigated with a novel approach in this work. The fundamental nature of the oscillator at hand makes it an excellent choice for applications involving oceanic transducers consisting of a dry driving electrical stator physically separated from a wet-driven payload mechanism. Without such units available at a low cost and a large number, harvesting the energy of a vibrating plate at seabed may prove impractical.
