Lines Of Site written by Desmond Rochfort and has been published by University of Alberta this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1999-03 with Art categories.

Over a period of more than twenty-five years, the printmaking division at the University of Alberta's department of Art and Design has become recognized internationally as a centre for printmaking. This special exhibition celebrates the work of those who have been associated with University of Alberta's printmaking division. Some of these artists, like Liz Ingram, Walter Jule, and Lyndal Osborne, are still instructors and faculty. Others, like Koichi Yamamoto, Marna Bunnell, and Ben Wong, have studied there as graduate students. These artists share a commitment to the idea that the print medium is a form in which artists can still apply high levels of craft, push the creative boundaries of the medium beyond the conventional, and yet simultaneously express effective meanings in a new and fast-changing world. In a deliberate play on the title of the Sightlines symposium of October 1997, Lines of Site alludes to the notions of place, direction, even standpoint of view, hinting at important principles of common cause to which print artists might aspire and by which they might be inspired in a world of increasingly immediate and ephemeral visions.

Sight Lines written by Arthur Sze and has been published by Copper Canyon Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-06-18 with Poetry categories.

Winner of the 2019 National Book Award “The sight lines in Sze’s 10th collection are just that―imagistic lines strung together by jump-cuts, creating a filmic collage that itself seems to be a portrait of simultaneity.” ―The New York Times From the current phenomenon of drawing calligraphy with water in public parks in China to Thomas Jefferson laying out dinosaur bones on the White House floor, from the last sighting of the axolotl to a man who stops building plutonium triggers, Sight Lines moves through space and time and brings the disparate and divergent into stunning and meaningful focus. In this new work, Arthur Sze employs a wide range of voices—from lichen on a ceiling to a man behind on his rent—and his mythic imagination continually evokes how humans are endangering the planet; yet, balancing rigor with passion, he seizes the significant and luminous and transforms these moments into riveting and enduring poetry. “These new poems are stronger yet and by confronting time head on, may best stand its tests.” ―Lit Hub “The wonders and realities of the world as seen through travel, nature walks, and daily routine bring life to the poems in Sight Lines.” ―Library Journal

Software product lines are emerging as a critical new paradigm for software development. Product lines are enabling organizations to achieve impressive time-to-market gains and cost reductions. With the increasing number of product lines and product-line researchers and practitioners, the time is right for a comprehensive examination of the issues surrounding the software product line approach. The Software Engineering Institute at Carnegie Mellon University is proud to sponsor the first conference on this important subject. This book comprises the proceedings of the First Software Product Line Conference (SPLC1), held August 28-31, 2000, in Denver, Colorado, USA. The twenty-seven papers of the conference technical program present research results and experience reports that cover all aspects of software product lines. Topics include business issues, enabling technologies, organizational issues, and life-cycle issues. Emphasis is placed on experiences in the development and fielding of product lines of complex systems, especially those that expose problems in the design, development, or evolution of software product lines. The book will be essential reading for researchers and practitioners alike.

Site Matters written by Andrea Kahn and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-12-21 with Architecture categories.

In the era of the Anthropocene, site matters are more pressing than ever. Building on the concepts, theories, and multi-disciplinary approaches raised in the first edition, this publication strives to address the changes that have taken place over the last 15 years with new material to complement and re-position the initial volume. Reaching across design disciplines, this highly illustrated anthology assembles essays from architects, landscape architects, urban designers, planners, historians, and artists to explore ways to physically and conceptually engage site. Thoughtful discourse and empirically grounded pieces combine to provide the language and theory to contextualize the meanings of site in the built environment. The increasingly complex hybridity of constructed environments today demands new tools for thinking about and working with site. Drawing contributions from outside and within the traditional design disciplines, this edition will trace important developments in site thinking with new essays on topics such as climate change, landscape as infrastructure, shifts from global to planetary urbanization debates, and the proliferation of participatory site transformation practices. Edited by two leading practitioners and academics, Site Matters juxtaposes timeless contributions from individuals including Elizabeth Meyer, Robert Beauregard, and Robin Dripps with original new writings from Peter Marcuse, Jane Wolff, Neil Brenner, and Thaisa Way, amongst others, to recontextualize and reignite the debate around site. An ideal text for students, academics, and researchers interested in site and design theory.
