Sex After The Sexual Revolution written by Helen Colton and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1972 with Social Science categories.

"Ms. Colton’s book is dedicated to the proposition that we are not yet human beings, we are only human becomers. The sexual revolution has suddenly confronted us with new knowledge and a new honesty. No longer can sex education consist of a few embarrassed lectures for the awakening adolescent. We must all become both learners and teachers about the meaning of sex at every stage of life. Among the questions Helen Colton helps the reader explore with honesty and courage are: the meaning of sexual maturity; the cost of being sexually irresponsible; group sex and mate-swapping; how to talk sex with your children; sex problems of the single parent; the sensory human of the future. This is a challenging book. Ms. Colton finds gains in the sexual revolution and she does not hesitate to say so. It is also a rewarding book, for the author believes that sexual freedom--like all freedoms--must enhance rather than demean our essential humanity. In these pages the reader will explore the complexities of sex after the sexual revolution under the guidance of a gifted, articulate and experienced counselor in problems of sex and family living."--Dust jacket.

Make Love Not War written by David Allyn and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-05-23 with History categories.

When Helen Gurley Brown's Sex and the Single Girl hit bookstores in 1962, the sexual revolution was launched and there was no turning back. Soon came the pill, the end of censorship, the advent of feminism, and the rise of commercial pornography. Our daily lives changed in an unprecedented time of sexual openness and experimentation. Make Love, Not War is the first serious treatment of the complicated events, ideas, and personalities that drove the sexual revolution forward. Based on first-hand accounts, diaries, interviews, and period research, it traces changes in private lives and public discourse from the fearful fifties to the first tremors of rebellion in the early sixties to the heady heyday of the revolution. Bringing a fresh perspective to the turbulence of these decades, David Allyn argues that the sexual revolutionaries of the '60s and '70s, by telling the truth about their own histories and desires, forced all Americans to re-examine the very meaning of freedom. Written with a historian's attention to nuance and a novelist's narrative drive, Make Love, Not War is a provocative, vivid, and thoughtful account of one of the most captivating episodes in American history. Also includes an 8-page insert.

Sex Love And Marriage In The 21st Century written by Robert T. Francoeur and has been published by iUniverse this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1999 with Family & Relationships categories.

Love, sex, and marriage are changing faster than ever before in human history. The current tidal wave of social changes will continue into the next century, and we will have to adapt our sexual values and relationships to these accelerating changes. These 22 honest, authentic stories tell of the unconventional paths pioneering church leaders and spiritually-aware women and men have taken in their quest to link their sexuality with their spiritual needs. Some might see in these unorthodox explorations only tales of promiscuous couplings. But these are not stories of wild thrill-seekers. These are tales told from the core of their being about their deeply felt need for genuine, responsible love and intimacy within a spiritual context. Their journeys do not promise paradise or instant happiness, as popular magazines do with recipes for lifelong marital bliss and fiery passion. These sojourners have much to teach us, even when we decide that this or that path is not for us. Their individual paths are not nearly as important as the simple message of God and Eros being inseparable that underlies journey. God and Eros can come together in many different relationships. And they must come together if we want to nourish and fulfill the divine spark at the core of our being. These women and men challenge our assumptions and our willingness to adapt to our radically changing world.

Sexual Revolution In Early America written by Richard Godbeer and has been published by JHU Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2003-05-01 with History categories.

An Alternate Selection of the History Book Club In 1695, John Miller, a clergyman traveling through New York, found it appalling that so many couples lived together without ever being married and that no one viewed "ante-nuptial fornication" as anything scandalous or sinful. Charles Woodmason, an Anglican minister in South Carolina in 1766, described the region as a "stage of debauchery" in which polygamy was "very common," "concubinage general," and "bastardy no disrepute." These depictions of colonial North America's sexual culture sharply contradict the stereotype of Puritanical abstinence that persists in the popular imagination. In Sexual Revolution in Early America, Richard Godbeer boldly overturns conventional wisdom about the sexual values and customs of colonial Americans. His eye-opening historical account spans two centuries and most of British North America, from New England to the Caribbean, exploring the social, political, and legal dynamics that shaped a diverse sexual culture. Drawing on exhaustive research into diaries, letters, and other private papers, as well as legal records and official documents, Godbeer's absorbing narrative uncovers a persistent struggle between the moral authorities and the widespread expression of popular customs and individual urges. Godbeer begins with a discussion of the complex attitude that the Puritans had toward sexuality. For example, although believing that sex could be morally corrupting, they also considered it to be such an essential element of a healthy marriage that they excommunicated those who denied "conjugal fellowship" to their spouses. He next examines the ways in which race and class affected the debate about sexual mores, from anxieties about Anglo-Indian sexual relations to the sense of sexual entitlement that planters held over their African slaves. He concludes by detailing the fundamental shift in sexual culture during the eighteenth century towards the acceptance of a more individualistic concept of sexual desire and fulfillment. Today's moral critics, in their attempts to convince Americans of the social and spiritual consequences of unregulated sexual behavior, often harken back to a more innocent age; as this groundbreaking work makes clear, America's sexual culture has always been rich, vibrant, and contentious.

Many facets of our world appear biased toward the couples’ lifestyle; there’s often an insinuation in advertisements, private conversations, and public gatherings that being alone means being unfulfilled--that singleness is a second-class status. How could that be true? In Joyfully Single in a Couples’ World, Bible teacher Harold J. Sala clearly states: “What I want to accomplish is to help singles understand that they can find contentment and peace where they are right now, that they don’t have to be married to be happy. I want to help them come to grips with who they are and to help them to discover where God wants them to go with their lives and futures. Finding God’s help to meet the present need is the key to peace and fulfillment.” Chapters on making peace with your dreams, handling other people’s expectations, the beauty of friendships, and God’s will guide readers to great joy in the here and now.

From Vichy to the Sexual Revolution explores the factors that led to such radical changes in French notions of gender roles, family structures, and sexuality. Sarah Fishman follows French women's path toward emancipation from winning suffrage in 1945 to the social movements of 1960s, painting a broad view of shifting habits and ideas about love, courtship, sex, marriage, parenting, childhood, and adolescence. She surveys a wide range of sources, including juvenile court cases, inexpensive guidebooks on marriage and childbirth, and popular magazines--Marie Claire and Elle most notably, where iconic columnists such as Marcelle Auclair and Marcelle Ségal answered readers' letters and dispensed intimate and inspirational advice to millions of women.
