Aquest llibre està organitzat el llibre en tres grans apartats, aparentment dispersos, però que tenen com a línia argumental les diferents expressions culturals de pertinença a una comunitat, articulades en diferents camps: les festes, la vida associativa i la llengua. En el primer apartat, dedicat a les festes, es comença per les tradicionals que segueixen el cicle de l’any, des de Nadal a les Festes Majors, de les celebracions consuetudinàries de pobles, com els aplecs i romiatges a les més recents que, tanmateix, han adquirir el caràcter tradicional tot i ser de nova creació, com, per exemple, la Festa de la Llegenda de Sant Jordi. El segon apartat està dedicat a la vida associativa, ja que s'entén que la cultura popular s’articula a través de la vida social. Els jocs, els balls i les orquestres, els grups de teatre d’aficionats són manifestacions que defineixen i alhora cohesionen els pobles. El tercer apartat està dedicat a la llengua. Tots sabem que la llengua és el principal factor de cohesió i d’identitat d’una comunitat. Serveix per comunicar-nos, per saber qui som, quin és el el nostre entorn, i ens permet transmetre uns coneixements i una visió dels mon a través de contes, rondalles i llegendes. No creiem en una separació llengua oral i llengua escrita, ni en la dicotomia literatura tradicional / literatura culta; ans al contrari, ambdues es retroalimenten. Per aquest motiu, s'ha introduït un apartat sobre la literatura escrita per autors de la Conca des de l’Edat Mitjana fins als nostres dies.
