Andrew Piligian's word crafting explores widely polarizing elements of the human psyche. In his first novel, "Killer," he presented his readers with a bone-chilling story of a serial killer gone haywire in a small mountain town. Now, in his latest work, Looking for Love, Lost, Piligian explores the complications of romance, the twists and turns that lovers experience in their search for happiness, the emotional rollercoaster that flings them up toward the heights of fulfillment before sending them plummeting into chasms of treachery and emotional sadism. Andrew Piligian taught history and literature in Los Angeles' inner city for years, bringing enlightened actualization to entire generations, lessons which they promptly forgot. Now, he fishes, reads, experiments with recipes, and enjoys living in his mountain retreat, dipping his pen into the inkwell, crafting fictional worlds and ignoring humanity's halfhearted declarations of reality.

When you reach the twilight of your existence, look back on your life and realize you have accomplished all your desires; you have to share your fulfillment with the world, your children, your family, your dearest friends, and everyone who contributed to your well-being. If the saying "Practice makes perfect" goes, I hope it applies to me. This is my second attempt at writing a book, a sequel to my first one. I do not consider myself a literary writer, far from it. As a matter of fact, in my school years, not only couldn't I put two and two together, but composition was my second weakest subject. As English is not my mother language, it's a double challenge. I have many times used dictionaries to prove my point. At an early age, playing with my dolls, I would tell them all kinds of stories, so you can say that I am more of a storyteller. This is my fairy tale as close to the truth as can be told however, to protect the anonymity of the characters, their names have been changed. Enjoy!

A young writer's search for a place called home, what it means to be an artist, and finding peace with a restless heart. The follow up to Charlotte Eriksson's first book "Empty Roads & Broken Bottles; in search for The Great Perhaps", is the continued self-exploring quest of a young artist. Poetry, travel stories and journals that brings you in to this young girl's journey. ---------------- The journals and poetry explore the dreamer's fate of leaving and arriving, love and loss, and learning to go on on your own. It captures the city of Berlin, where I somehow ended up. The broken concrete, conversations with strangers, small moments of ache or clarity. The stories leads to the chapter of my Album Journals "Learning What It Means To Be An Artist," which is a series of journals and letters behind what came to be my second album "I Must Be Gone and Live, or Stay and Die". The album and this book go hand in hand and the lyrics and quotes blend into one another. The reader will find the book as a world of its own, and the listener of the album will find the musical world expanded into reality.

Join Dave on his journey through the past and present, as he looks for his lost Leigh love. Author Ian Yearsley draws on his own experiences of growing up in Leigh-on-Sea to create a fictional but very realistic story for this second book in his Essex Novella Series. 'Extraordinary . . . a profound and beautiful book . . . a moving meditation on grief and loss, but also a sparky celebration of joy, wonder and the miracle of love . . . Witty, wise, beautifully structured and written in clear, singing prose' – Sunday Times Eighteen months before Kathryn Schulz’s beloved father died, she met the woman she would marry. In Lost & Found, she weaves the stories of those relationships into a brilliant exploration of how all our lives are shaped by loss and discovery - from the maddening disappearance of everyday objects to the sweeping devastations of war, pandemic, and natural disaster; from finding new planets to falling in love. Three very different American families form the heart of Lost & Found: the one that made Schulz’s father, a charming, brilliant, absentminded Jewish refugee; the one that made her partner, an equally brilliant farmer’s daughter and devout Christian; and the one she herself makes through marriage. But Schulz is also attentive to other, more universal kinds of conjunction: how private happiness can coexist with global catastrophe, how we get irritated with those we adore, how love and loss are themselves unavoidably inseparable. The resulting book is part memoir, part guidebook to living in a world that is simultaneously full of wonder and joy and wretchedness and suffering - a world that always demands both our gratitude and our grief. A staff writer at the New Yorker and winner of the Pulitzer Prize, Kathryn Schulz writes with curiosity, tenderness, erudition, and wit about our finite yet infinitely complicated lives. Crafted with the emotional clarity of C. S. Lewis and the intellectual force of Susan Sontag, Lost & Found is an uncommon book about common experiences. 'An extraordinary gift of a book, a tender, searching meditation on love and loss and what it means to be human. I wept at it, laughed with it, was entirely fascinated by it. I emerged feeling a little as if the world around me had been made anew.' – Helen Macdonald, author of H Is for Hawk

Ennobling Love written by C. Stephen Jaeger and has been published by University of Pennsylvania Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2010-08-03 with Literary Criticism categories.

"Richard, Duke of Aquitaine, son of the King of England, remained with Philip, the King of France, who so honored him for so long that they ate every day at the same table and from the same dish, and at night their beds did not separate them. And the King of France loved him as his own soul; and they loved each other so much that the King of England was absolutely astonished at the vehement love between them and marveled at what it could mean." Public avowals of love between men were common from antiquity through the Middle Ages. What do these expressions leave to interpretation? An extraordinary amount, as Stephen Jaeger demonstrates. Unlike current efforts to read medieval culture through modern mores, Stephen Jaeger contends that love and sex in the Middle Ages relate to each other very differently than in the postmedieval period. Love was not only a mode of feeling and desiring, or an exclusively private sentiment, but a way of behaving and a social ideal. It was a form of aristocratic self-representation, its social function to show forth virtue in lovers, to raise their inner worth, to increase their honor and enhance their reputation. To judge from the number of royal love relationships documented, it seems normal, rather than exceptional, that a king loved his favorites, and the courtiers and advisors, clerical and lay, loved their superiors and each other. Jaeger makes an elaborate, accessible, and certain to be controversial, case for the centrality of friendship and love as aristocratic lay, clerical, and monastic ideals. Ennobling Love is a magisterial work, a book that charts the social constructions of passion and sexuality in our own times, no less than in the Middle Ages.
