LOTUS INK is an introduction to Soka Gakkai International (SGI) Nichiren Daishonin’s Buddhism via its collection of thirty-nine sonnets that introduce foundational Buddhist concepts that range from introductory basics of practice to mystic math, theory into action, historical figures and our place in this world. The SGI is a worldwide value-creation society dedicated to using Buddhism to create world peace through individual happiness. Nichiren Daishonin is a priest in 13th century Japan who discovered the essence of the Buddha’s teachings. Since haiku did not exist as a stand-alone poetic form at that time while the sonnet did and was itself born in the 13th century, the author chose to introduce SGI Nichiren Buddhism in sonnet form. From the preface: “As someone who began embracing Nichiren Daishonin's Buddhism in the West, I felt the sonnet, which was born in the same century as Nichiren Daishonin, was the perfect structure and convergence of East and West for the Buddhist content I wished to convey.”

Lotus Sync is a window into one practitioner’s experience of Soka Gakkai International (SGI) Nichiren Daishonin’s Buddhism via its collection of poems and is a companion book to Lotus Ink, a sonnet-rich introduction to SGI Nichiren Daishonin’s Buddhism. The SGI is a worldwide value-creation society dedicated to using Buddhism to create world peace through individual happiness. Nichiren Daishonin is a priest in 13th century Japan who discovered the essence of the Buddha’s teachings. The Chinese art collection of the Lee Kong Chian Art Museum, National University of Singapore, is presented in this catalogue published to commemorate the Museum's official opening in August 1990. There are some 540 plates (350 in colour) giving prominent display to the collection, which has been organised into four main areas of Chinese art - Ceramics, Bronze, Archaic Jade, and Painting and Calligraphy. The ceramics section is the most extensive, covering some 6,000 years of Chinese history and representing a fairly complete cross-section of the various types of ceramic ware found through the millennia. Around 80 per cent of these pieces were acquired in the last six years, in the light of recent archaeological discoveries. Many of these are comparable to those found in famous collections the world over. There is also a brief introductory essay on each of the four sections.

Art And Artists Of Twentieth Century China written by Michael Sullivan and has been published by Univ of California Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1996 with Art, Chinese categories.

"Sullivan presents a wealth of material that has never before appeared in a Western language. I expect it will be the standard book on twentieth-century Chinese art for the foreseeable future."--Julia F. Andrews, author of Painters and Politics in the People's Republic of China "A most sympathetic and useful guide to twentieth-century Chinese art. Long the leading scholar on the subject, Professor Sullivan has presented a lucid account of a most dramatic chapter in Chinese art in a complex interplay of aesthetics, politics, cultural, and social history."--Wen C. Fong, Princeton University "So much of China's art in the twentieth century has to do with artistic (and political) ideas from the West that is is appropriate that one of its first comprehensive histories should be written by a Western scholar--especially one who has known personally many of China's leading artistic figures of the last fifty years. Not only does Professor Sullivan tell the complex story of twentieth century China art with lucidity and style, his learned text is also illuminated with witty anecdotes and incisive observations that can only come from an indsider."--Johnson Chang (Chang Tson-zung), Director, Hanart Tz Gallery, Hong Kong
