Batu, a young woman, lives in a future, developing society after an apocalypse. She heroically opposes performing a barbaric, self-mutilation ritual the high priest concocts to gratify his sexual fantasy and infuriates him, creating a lifelong enemy. Being strong-willed, she hates men seeing women as inferior and declares the council is depriving women of their rights and justice. She inflames the council telling them women should serve on the council. She rejects her father's choice of husband and marries a man of her own choosing. Can she continue her caustic opposition and not face retaliation? A disfiguring condition decimates Batu's beauty, triggering her transformation from a self-centered bully to a loving, caring woman. The death of Batu's husband and baby causes her to lose worth, as defined by law, and the village council decrees she is to be expelled from the village and face certain death.

The marriage turns into a test of wills that causes her beauty to be devastated by psoriasis. After nearly dying, she is transformed by falling in love with her husband. While waiting to be expelled, the Healer helps Batu to discover a loving God. With a deeper understanding of life, she faces tragedies, expulsion and death courageously and heroically.

Should be required reading for the whole world... In our lives, we occasionally read a book, watch a movie, or have an extraordinary moment that creates a profound change within us, something so transformative that it resonates at the most immense depths of our being, something that changes our perception of ourselves and the world around us. At these moments, we feel as if someone has lit a candle in a dark room, and we can suddenly see and experience things that we have never seen or experienced that way before. And so it is with this book. The ideas and concepts within this book are not new, but the spirit in which they are delivered is unlike any book on this subject matter that I have come across. This book is well thought out, beautifully formatted into a natural unfolding of its message, and powerful in its delivery. This is by far one of the most profound books that I have ever read. I cannot recommend this book highly enough. If you are searching for meaningful change in your life, this book is a must read. - Ronald S. Eppich, Founder, Sovereign Order of the Mystic Knights of St. Mary Magdalene Love without Cause is a workout for the emotional self. Ms. Augustine's 52-week program of practical exercises helps the reader reboot from an emotional and mental standpoint. Her tone is both warm and conversational as she deftly talks us through life's emotional hurdles, whether in the workplace, at home, or in the broader community. Ms. Augustine has interspersed real-life stories that help us unpack and rewire our belief systems, with a focus on real love. This book is one I will keep by my side and refer to for a long time to come. - Adele Royce, Author of Truth, Lies and Love in Advertising Read, practice, use, and live. Love as human in the Divine, and as being Divine in the human. - Jack Gunter; author, inventor, investor, and friend

An unexpected journey toward unconditional love Like so many men, Tim Muldoon assumed that life followed a script. More to the point, he assumed that love would follow a script—one determined by his own choices. When the script changed, as it inevitably does, Tim was forced to ask some critical questions: How could he bring his disparate desires into harmony with one another? Could he make the journey to where his true dreams seemed to be leading him? Should he—or could he—venture into the unknown territory of selfless love? In meditative, heartfelt prose, best-selling author Tim Muldoon shows how authentic love grows through unexpected twists and turns in a relationship, and how by following the deepest desires of his heart, he found the freedom to become his best and most passionate self. From sex to self-giving love, from the desire to be loved to the desire to serve God in the person of his wife, from resisting adoption to loving his two adopted daughters with unbridled joy, Muldoon shares with us his personal love story, whose altered script he came to embrace. Through Muldoon's journey, each of us is invited to consider how falling in love can become our greatest adventure with God.

The Transformation Of Intimacy written by Anthony Giddens and has been published by John Wiley & Sons this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-04-23 with Social Science categories.

The sexual revolution: an evocative term, but what meaning can be given to it today? How does 'sexuality' come into being and what connections does it have with the changes that have affected personal life on a more general plane? In answering these questions, Anthony Giddens disputes many of the dominant interpretations of the role of sexuality in modern culture. The emergence of what the author calls plastic sexuality - sexuality freed from its intrinsic relation to reproduction - is analysed in terms of the long-term development of the modern social order and social influences of the last few decades. Giddens argues that the transformation of intimacy, in which women have played the major part, holds out the possibility of a radical democratization of the personal sphere. This book will appeal to a large general audience as well as being essential reading for students and professionals.

Receiving Love written by Harville Hendrix and has been published by Atria Books this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2005-10-04 with Psychology categories.

Harville Hendrix has illuminated the paths to loving, long-lasting relationships in his New York Times bestsellers Getting the Love You Want and Keeping the Love You Find. Now, with coauthor and wife Helen LaKelly Hunt, he brings us to a new understanding about one of the most complicated issues facing couples today: Receiving Love Many men and women know how to give love, but many more undermine their relationships by never having learned how to accept it. We don't always realize the ways in which we reject appreciation and affection, help and guidance from our romantic partners. And, according to Hendrix and Hunt, until we are able to understand the meaning behind our behavior, our relationships stand to suffer. Ask yourself: Are you reluctant to tell your partner what you really want or need? When you do get what you've asked for, do you still feel dissatisfied? Is it difficult for you to accept kind gestures, gifts, or compliments from your partner? If you answered yes to any of the above, this book is for you. With Receiving Love, you can learn how to break the shackles of self-rejection -- which likely began in childhood, when our caretakers unintentionally failed to nurture us -- and embrace real intimacy. Drawing on their renowned expertise, the wide clinical experience of Imago therapists, and their own personal experience as a married couple, the authors offer detailed, sensitive advice on how to turn a relationship between two well-meaning yet misunderstood individuals into a true, everlasting partnership.
