Die Forschung liefert Hinweise darauf, dass mehrsprachige Kinder verschiedener Erwerbstypen Kasusmarkierungen unterschiedlich verwenden. Diese Hinweise werden im Rahmen einer Längsschnittstudie überprüft, die Kasusmarkierungen im Russischen und im Deutschen bei simultan und sukzessiv bilingualen Vorschulkindern (Alter: 4;0-5;6) mit unauffälliger und auffälliger Sprachentwicklung untersucht. Der Studie liegt die Annahme zugrunde, dass die Realisierung einer Phrasenstruktur und deren Kasusmarkierung von verschiedenen Faktoren abhängt, die in einer engen Wechselwirkung mit den sprachlichen Fertigkeiten des Kindes stehen. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass bei den simultan und sukzessiv bilingualen Kindern mit einer unauffälligen Sprachentwicklung die Verwendung der Kasusmarkierungen im Russischen miteinander vergleichbar und weitgehend zielsprachlich ist; im Deutschen hingegen gibt es deutliche Differenzen zwischen den Gruppen, die jedoch nur quantitativer Art sind. Die Kinder mit einer auffälligen Sprachentwicklung unterscheiden sich von den typisch entwickelten Kindern in beiden Sprachen sowohl in Bezug auf die Realisierung der Phrasenstrukturen als auch auf deren zielsprachliche Kasusmarkierung. Die Studie belegt, dass Faktoren wie die Komplexität der zu markierenden Phrasenstruktur, ihr Verwendungskontext, der Grad der Automatisierung der notwendigen Sprachverarbeitungsprozesse sowie der Transfer aus der einen in die andere Sprache die Verwendung der Kasusmarkierungen beeinflussen. Dieser Einfluss variiert je nach Gruppe und Sprache und ist auf den Erwerbs- und Sprachentwicklungstyp zurückzuführen.
