With recollections from the man himself, including exploits with the likes of Alan Ball, George Best, Mick Channon, Bobby Moore and Peter Osgood, MacDou-goal traces Ted MacDougall's rise from his roots in Inverness, through his playing and coaching career, to the present day. An impressionable youngster under Bill Shankly at Liverpool, the Scottish international was prolific at York City, Bournemouth, Norwich City and Southampton. Famously he set an FA Cup record with nine goals in one game against Margate in 1971, and answered critics in style as the First Division's top scorer in 1975/76. Rarely out of the headlines during the 1970s, there were also turbulent periods: first following a big-money move to Manchester United, then a fiery spell at West Ham and a controversial end to his Scotland career. He spent a season with Detroit Express, and explains his decision to relocate across the Atlantic, where he formed his own club. Never short of an opinion, MacDougall also has plenty to say about the modern game.

Harry Redknapp spent 15 years at AFC Bournemouth as a player, coach and manager, longer than at any other club in his colourful career in football. Despite this lengthy association, Redknapp's days at Dean Court have featured only fleetingly in his biographies to date. Now, with the co-operation of Harry himself, the tale of his rise from barely remembered player to the country's brightest young manager is told for the first time. Harry shot to fame when lowly Bournemouth dumped Manchester United out of the FA Cup, overcoming a backdrop of financial turmoil to guide the Cherries out of English football's third tier for the first time. He then bounced back from relegation and from almost losing his life to nurture his son, Jamie, from schoolboy sensation into one of Britain's most expensive teenage players. Featuring painstakingly researched archive material and interviews with team-mates, colleagues and friends, this is an inside account of Redknapp's years at Dean Court, as well as a history of two decades in the life of the Cherries.

Sport: Law and Practice, Fourth Edition is the leading legal title covering sports law and practice in the UK, and at the Court of Arbitration for Sport. It serves both as a comprehensive statement of applicable law and precedent, and as a very practical guide to circumnavigating a complex sector. The new edition retains and updates all of the key chapters from previous editions, including the extended sections on challenges to the actions of sports governing bodies, and on anti-doping regulation and enforcement (with an introduction to the new 2021 World Anti-Doping Code). There are important updates to the chapters on Regulating Financial Fair Play, Misconduct, Safeguarding in Sport, the Court of Arbitration for Sport, and Media Rights and Sport. The Fourth Edition also adds brand new chapters dealing with: -Effective sports regulation (including the first ever comprehensive discussions of the 'general principles of law' applied by CAS panels in determining challenges to sports regulations, as well as of the principles of interpretation of sports regulations). -Best practice in sports governance (describing developments such as the strengthening of the competence and independence of boards and the emergence of independent integrity units). -Data protection law and sport (including discussion of the provisions of the Data Protection Act 2018 that facilitate the sharing of personal data by sports bodies for integrity-related purposes). -Exploiting commercially valuable sports data (explaining how sports rights-holders can fashion commercial agreements to meet the demand for sports data from the betting industry and others). -ESports (the first comprehensive treatment of the legal and practical principles underlying the regulation and commercial exploitation of the increasingly important ESports sector). Readers will also benefit from practice tips, precedent clauses, detailed explanations of key practical issues, and step-by-step analysis. This is an essential title for all sports law practitioners (solicitors and barristers, common law and civil lawyers), sports governing bodies, event organisers, clubs, participants, sports agencies and commercial partners, arbitrators, universities, and students.

Bobby Stokes written by Mark Sanderson and has been published by eBook Partnership this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-05-02 with Sports & Recreation categories.

He's the man whose goal delivered Southampton's only major trophy in 130 years and counting. Bobby Stokes's winning goal in the 1976 FA Cup Final marked an unforgettable 11-second sequence of play for Saints fans, but just how did a Portsmouth-born Pompey supporter end up scoring a cup-winning goal for his boyhood team's hated, local rivals? Bobby Stokes: The Man from Portsmouth Who Scored Southampton's Most Famous Goal answers this question and so many others. Such as, what led him to leave Saints just a year after his glory? Why did he swap the glamour of the US League and crowds of 50,000-plus in New York for the grass roots of the Sussex County League? How did he end up waiting tables in a Portsmouth cafe? And, why, less than 20 years on from that historic May afternoon, did he end up dying in poverty in 1995 at the tender age of just 44 - shortly before his testimonial match was due to take place at the Dell? This book takes a long overdue look at the life of Bobby Stokes, answers those questions and tells the story of a legendary figure in Southampton's history and the man who scored the club's most-famous goal.

71 72 written by Daniel Abrahams and has been published by eBook Partnership this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-10-18 with Sports & Recreation categories.

There was a season when the world's greatest footballers were all on show at British grounds. Best, Keegan, Charlton and Moore were joined by Pele, Cruyff, Beckenbauer and Eusebio, while in the dugouts Clough, Shankly, Revie and Allison duked it out in the closest ever championship title race. That season was 1971/72. As Enoch Powell's rhetoric roared and American Pie topped the pop charts, Britain's footballing culture was simpler purer than the one we know today, with the game played for the public, not for TV companies. It was a time when players shared pints with fans, Topps football cards were schoolyard currency, Roy Race ruled the comic world and videprinters saw footy devotees hold their collective breath every weekend. As well as covering the superstars, 71/72 is a treasure trove of tales of lesserknown names who added to that extraordinary season. Read about the Aldo Poy goal that is still celebrated today, Toni Fritsch revolutionising the NFL, cricketing footballers and the OAP ball boy who rowed the River Severn.
