This book provides a systematic approach to analyzing macroeconomic developments, focusing on macroeconomic accounts, analysis, and the effects of selected policies on a nation's economy. The first part of the book describes the data, accounts, and analysis of the four main macroeconomic sectors — real, external, fiscal, and monetary — and discusses the accounting and economic relations among these sectors, using a flow of funds approach. Key indicators are presented for each sector and used to show how macroeconomic developments can be assessed and problems identified. The second part of the book discusses fiscal, monetary, and exchange rate policy and their economic implications. These policies, along with selected structural reforms, are compared along several dimensions and shown how they can be used, in various combinations or individually, to address a variety of macroeconomic difficulties. This study provides a systematic approach to the key dimensions of analysis in support of policy-based operations. Concepts presented include understanding the macroeconomic context of sector policy reforms using a macro-meso-micro perspective, using dimensions of sector diagnosis to identify sequential binding constraints to development in a prevailing policy and institutional environment, and assessing the effects of policy change. Also included are examples of measuring the costs of policy change and lessons from incorporating policy change assessments into policy operation design.

Observers and Macroeconomic Systems is concerned with the computational aspects of using a control-theoretic approach to the analysis of dynamic macroeconomic systems. The focus is on using a separate model for the development of the control policies. In particular, it uses the observer-based approach whereby the separate model learns to behave in a similar manner to the economic system through output-injections. The book shows how this approach can be used to learn the forward-looking behaviour of economic actors which is a distinguishing feature of dynamic macroeconomic models. It also shows how it can be used in conjunction with low-order models to undertake policy analysis with a large practical econometric model. This overcomes some of the computational problems arising from using just the large econometric models to compute optimal policy trajectories. The work also develops visual simulation software tools that can be used for policy analysis with dynamic macroeconomic systems.

Applied Macroeconomics for Public Policy applies system and control theory approaches to macroeconomic problems. The book shows how to build simple and efficient macroeconomic models for policy analysis. By using these models, instead of complex multi-criteria models with uncertain parameters, readers will gain new certainty in macroeconomic decision-making. As high debt to GDP ratios cause problems in societies, this book provides insights on improving economies during and after economic downturns. Provides a detailed analysis of existing macroeconomic models Addresses the dynamics of debt to GDP ratio and the effects of fiscal and monetary policy on this ratio Shows how to use models to evaluate the dynamics of the debt to GDP ratio in cases of government spending and tax cuts and to decide whether such economic measures are efficient Uses optimal theory to obtain optimal yearly debt levels to reach the established goals (decrease debt or balance budget) Provides many examples and software exercises to promote learning by doing

This is an applications-oriented text that demystifies the linkages between monetary and fiscal policies and key macroeconomic variables such as income, unemployment, inflation and interest rates. Specially written "newspaper" articles simulate current macroeconomic news on asset-price bubbles, exchange rates, hyperinflation and more. Exercises and diagrams, and a global perspective – incorporating both developed and emerging economies - make this a broadly useful, real-world oriented text on a complex and shifting subject.

A Macroeconomic Analysis Of Profit written by Andrea Carrera and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-04-09 with Business & Economics categories.

Based on the observation of economic reality, this book provides for the foundations of a new structure of national payment systems. Specifically, to this end, a rigorous accounting for money transactions, savings, and invested profit is suggested, with a major aim to settle sustainable lending levels. Profit lies at the heart of economic activities. Indeed, companies, from small to large, seek net gains to remunerate shareholders and to increase their assets. Yet, economists are far from sharing a common theory of profit. Using mathematical tools and a discursive approach, this book contributes to the debates in such regard, in the attempt to provide new answers to old economic issues. What is macroeconomic profit? Is there any relationship between wages, lending, and profit? This book is an accesible resource for economists and financial experts as well as global economics students, researchers, academics and historians alike. It will challenge policy-makers and professionals and lead them on a thought-provoking journey through the realm of macroeconomics.
