Le roman décrit la fin de la mafia internationale en 2020 et l'histoire d'un employé de banque de la classe moyenne qui, victime d'une conspiration, devint le bras droit du parrain de la mafia sicilienne. L'auteur a été cadre supérieur dans le monde de la finance internationale pendant plusieurs décennies. Par la suite, il a acquis une connaissance profonde des flux financiers des banques d'affaires, actives à l'échelle mondiale, en qualité de top manager d'une des premières sociétés de capital-risque allemandes qui s'impliquait principalement dans des entreprises du monde du logiciel. Inévitablement, il fut plus ou moins contraint et forcé de côtoyer des personnalités douteuses dans le cadre de ses affaires. Dans ce cas, il est fortement conseillé de ne pas s'impliquer personnellement dans ce monde de l'ombre. Pendant plusieurs années, l'idée mûrit chez l'auteur d'écrire un roman sur l'organisation de la mafia internationale. Ses propres expériences économiques se fondraient dans l'histoire. Le roman ne prétend aucunement être exact ou livrer une recherche scientifique, il relate au contraire les impressions de son auteur. Au fil de sa propre formation à la littérature, l'auteur parvenait rarement à lire une histoire du début à la fin, par manque de temps. Lorsqu'il reprenait sa lecture, il devait relire plusieurs paragraphes pour pouvoir comprendre l'histoire. Ce roman est conçu pour palier à ce problème et pour se lire aisément, les chapitres indépendants rendent la reprise de la lecture plus facile. Il convient donc parfaitement pour les vacances ou un voyage. Pour l'auteur, il était important d'y intégrer des informations relatives au monde de la finance sans que des connaissances financières particulières soient requises. Ce n'est certes pas le suspense qui manque, mais il ne s'agit pas d'un énième récit sanglant sur la mafia tel qu'il y en a déjà en quantité.
