Joseph Ennemoser (1787-1854) was an Tyrolean doctor and scientist, noted for his use of magnetism and hypnosis. He was a forerunner of Freud in his belief in the connection between the mind and physical health, and his interest in psychology led to investigations into the paranormal and magic. He became well known for his presentations about magic, delusions and apparently supernatural occurrences. He suggested that most of these phenomena appeared miraculous only because of a lack of understanding of the laws of nature. The History of Magic was published in Leipzig in 1844, and translated into English in 1854 by William Howitt, a leading Spiritualist writer. Volume 1 deals with the different categories of magic and mysticism, and how they were viewed in ancient times. He discusses visions, dreams and soothsaying, and miracles in the Bible, and the link between classical medicine and oracles.

Lynn Thorndike's monumental work, "History of Magic and Experimental Science (Vol. 1&2)," meticulously charts the intricate evolution of magical practices and experimental science from antiquity through the Renaissance. Thorndike employs a scholarly yet accessible narrative style, seamlessly blending detailed historical accounts with critical analysis of the philosophical underpinnings that shaped early scientific thought. The comprehensive two-volume set delves into the intersections of superstition, alchemy, and the burgeoning rationalism of the period, contextualizing magic not merely as folly but as a vital component of the intellectual landscape that eventually led to modern science. An esteemed historian of science, Lynn Thorndike was profoundly influenced by the intellectual currents of the early 20th century, which were marked by a growing interest in the scientific revolution and its origins. His extensive academic background and commitment to uncovering the complexities of medieval and early modern thought culminated in this exhaustive exploration. Thorndike's rigorous scholarship is evident in the breadth of his research, meticulously sourcing texts and traditions that illuminate the symbiotic relationship between magic and science. "History of Magic and Experimental Science" is an essential read for scholars, historians, and anyone interested in the roots of scientific inquiry. This work not only enriches our understanding of historical epistemologies but also invites readers to reevaluate the cultural significance of magic in shaping scientific paradigms, making it a pivotal study for those dedicated to exploring the interplay between superstition and rational thought.

Chakra Magic For Beginners written by Harry Eilenstein and has been published by BoD – Books on Demand this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-06-28 with Religion categories.

Magic is the influencing of matter by consciousness. Consequently, the transition between consciousness and matter is the crux of magic - this transition is what is often called "life force". Among other things, the structure of the chakras is found there, which is why the knowledge of the chakras and their properties is an important basis for magic. This includes not only the importance of the Third Eye for hypnosis, the significance of the Hara for combat magic, or the function of the solar plexus in life force vampirism, but also the dynamics of the entire chakra system and the gesture that results from it as an ideal state - which is the optimal basis of both magic and a life full of joy.
