Adventure, romance, politics, and murder filled the life of Lorenzo DiMedici. A banker who inherited the leadership of Florence, Italy during the 15th Century used his charisma and financial influence to create a humanistic city of art and culture despite plots against him by Pope Sixtus IV, the Pazzi family and King Ferrante of Naples who would mummify those whose spirits he desired to be surrounded by. After the murder of his brother during Easter Sunday services, Lorenzo had to make the difficult choice of meeting with King Ferrante alone and unarmed or go to war.

He was a grand young being as he stood there, straight and clean-limbed; hard-bitten of muscle, albeit so young; powerful and graceful in his stride. The beauty of youth was his, and of a strong heredity - that you might have seen. The years of youth were his, yes; but 'the lightness of youth did not rest on his brow. While he was not yet eighteen, the gravity of manhood was his. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. With this HANDY 6x9" edition, your teenager will be thrilled to discover how Jesus might have spent his youth in preparation to become the Messiah. This faux biography of Jesus reconstructs the historic settings in which Jesus lived as one of us. The "missing years" are an interpolation of the birth story and his mission. The characters are presented with mundane motives and concerns, offering familiarity to the Believer and relevance to those in doubt. This set of four Gospel novels depicts the Trinity at work as God prepares His son to deal with his own flesh in this material world. As you preview the carefully worded sexual passages, your eyes will open to the modern dilemma that young people face today. You will recognize the Holy Spirit's voice, as God molds and forges Jesus in the same way that Jesus can mold and forge you. Both the humanity of Jesus and his divinity are portrayed in this romantic story of the adventure that Jesus began - an adventure that continues to this day.

A woman, tall, somewhat angular, dark of hair and eye, strong of features—a woman now approaching middle age—sat looking out over the long, tree-clad slopes that ran down from the gallery front of the mansion house to the gate at the distant roadway. She had sat thus for some moments, many moments, her gaze intently fixed, as though waiting for something—something or someone that she did not now see, but expected soon to see.It was late afternoon of a day so beautiful that not even old Albemarle, beauty spot of Virginia, ever produced one more beautiful—not in the hundred years preceding that day, nor in the century since then. For this was more than a hundred years ago; and what is now an ancient land was then a half opened region, settled only here and there by the great plantations of the well-to-do. The house that lay at the summit of the long and gentle slope, flanked by its wide galleries—its flung doors opening it from front to rear to the gaze as one approached—had all the rude comfort and assuredness usual with the gentry of that time and place. It was the privilege, and the habit, of the Widow Lewis to sit idly when she liked, but her attitude now was not that of idleness. Intentness, reposeful acceptance of life, rather, showed in her motionless, long-sustained position. She was patient, as women are; but her strong pose, its freedom from material support, her restrained power to do or to endure, gave her the look of owning something more than resignation, something more than patience. A strong figure of a woman, one would have said had one seen her, sitting on the gallery of her old home a hundred and twenty-four years ago.The Widow Lewis stared straight down at the gate, a quarter of a mile away, with yearning in her gaze. But as so often happens, what she awaited did not appear at the time and place she herself had set. There fell at the western end of the gallery a shadow—a tall shadow, but she did not see it. She did not hear the footfall, not stealthy, but quite silent, with which the tall owner of the shadow came toward her from the gallery end.It was a young man, or rather boy, no more than eighteen years of age, who stood now and gazed at her after his silent approach, so like that of an Indian savage. Half savage himself he seemed now, as he stood, clad in the buckskin garments of the chase, then not unusual in the Virginian borderlands among settlers and hunters, and not held outré among a people so often called to the chase or to war.

Fearing the consequences of being discovered, they cling to each other and their newfound love. Often the third wheel of the trio, Miguel can think of no one but the enchanting Maria. Letting go of his plans for the future, he throws caution to the wind as he quakes in her thrall. Does Maria return his affections? Can these clandestine love affairs survive the foolishness of youth? Will their newly discovered passions win out over their ambitions? Journey with the New Men as their Bonds of Brotherhood are tested by passion, prejudice, and ambition. ––––––––– "I absolutely loved following each man's story, background, and bias as situations arose with members of the church and their student groups. It was heartbreaking and tender, packed with real and raw emotion that just pulled at your heartstrings and gave the reader a lot to think about. Such an inspired story that I couldn't put down!" - Ash Knight, author "I absolutely devoured this story! New Men provides an inside look at a group of young seminarians trying to navigate through the duplicity, corruption, hypocrisy, and traumatic experiences of the religious systems perpetuated by the Catholic Church. I loved the different points of view of the characters during the 1980s and their insights on love, self-identity, and self-realization... the struggle between good and evil is revealed within the delusion perpetrated by the powerful men of the Vatican City. New Men: Bonds of Brotherhood is a must-read!" - Lali A. Love, award-winning best-selling author "Dell'Olio flawlessly details the conflict of being gay and Catholic in an intolerant time. He opens a window into priesthood, Church politics, and corruption. This book is perfect for anyone dreaming of something more, finding the strength to believe in yourself, or searching for where you belong. One of the easiest five stars I've ever given." - Halo Scot, author "A complex journey of immersive self-discovery between faith and identity. A great read, talented author." - Rory Michaelson, author "This book is many wonderful things. I highly recommend this book for those who want an authentic account of growing into self." - Anya Pavelle, author "Good storytelling, a wide range of characters and a heartbreaking tale. I felt intense anger at the Roman Catholic church one minute, and pure joy at a love story the next." - Conor J. Bredin, author "This was a fascinating journey. Take the journey with these three men and see what you think for yourself. Your conclusions may surprise you as they did me." - Starred Review, 5/5 "A deeply original and honest book that took me into a world I could never know. What a terrific book." - Chase Hackett, author "I wasn't disappointed. I loved the characters; I enjoyed following their many adventures together." - S.S. Long, author "New Men: Bonds of Brotherhood is a multi-layered treat. This book was a fascinating romance-against-the-odds and I'd recommend it to anyone who is LGBTQ+ friendly." - Matt Adcock, author "The struggle between faith and sexuality is on full display in this dramatic story. I fell in love with the characters and rooted for them as they learn to love and be loved." - Starred Review, 5/5
