Namo mantra is the secret of Modi's success. Narendra Modi is that popular name who doesn't bend according to the situations but changes the situation according to him. Who knows how to reach the goal even by walking on curved and twisted paths. His experiences are his mantra which every politician wants to use to gain the popularity that Narendra Modi has. Whether it is the matter of state-administration or industrial growth, of self employment or education— the all-round development of Gujarat speaks Narendra Modi's glory for itself. In his interview on TV Today Conclave, one thing that came in light was that — 'I (Narendra Modi) just do my work, whatever you think of me is your own opinion.' In FICCI, he addressed to female entrepreneurs, encouraging them that 'if women, that is half of the country's population, share responsibility in every area of development, and get equal opportunities, then it will become easier to change the nation.' As far as secularism is concerned, the affection of Muslims and Christians towards him during the Sadbhavna Yatra brings out his clean image. This book is full of his special characterstics…

The book attempts to establish dialogue and build bridges in these polarizing times when politics divide us more than at any time. By focusing on significant nation-builders, from Mahatma Gandhi to Narendra Modi, the book makes a compelling case for going beyond the narrow ideological divide and welcomes the readers to engage with the unison and integration of political thoughts and actions. The book argues that starting from Gandhi, Nehru, Bose, Savarkar, Ambedkar, Patel, Shastri, Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, VP Singh Chandrasekhar, Narasimha Rao, and Atal B. Vajpayee, Modi is only taking forward the nation in Amrit Kaal on the lines which his predecessors drew. The book shows the amalgamation of ideological diversities in national unity!

A legendary journalist's close encounters and candid profiles of the powerful, the famous, the glamorous and the rich--from Nehru, Jinnah and Sheikh Abdullah to Meena Kumari, Indira Gandhi and Narendra Modi. In this frank and freewheeling narrative, Kuldip Nayar recounts his experiences of meeting many of the men and women who shaped the destiny of pre- and post-Independence India, revealing hitherto unknown aspects of their personalities and shedding light on many key events in the country. Was Nehru a secret dynast who had only his daughter Indira Gandhi in mind as his successor? What role did Nayar himself play in Lal Bahadur Shastri's election as prime minster after Nehru's death? Why did Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan--revered as the Frontier Gandhi--refer to Indians as 'baniyas'? And who did Zulfikar Ali Bhutto think should be the prime minister of the entire subcontinent--India, Pakistan and Bangladesh? Interspersed with these political reminiscences are delightful accounts of Meena Kumari's encounter with Shastri on the sets of Pakeezah, and Faiz Ahmed Faiz's flawless recitation of his great poetry even after consuming a full bottle of Black Dog whiskey. Nayar does not fight shy of expressing his opinions--be it a comparison of JRD and Ratan Tata, advice for Narendra Modi, or reflections on the shape of Indo-Pak relations had Mahatma Gandhi and Mohammed Ali Jinnah lived longer. In this absorbing and entertaining book--which he finished only weeks before he passed away--Kuldip Nayar writes in the grand old tradition of journalists who were not afraid to tell it like it is.

The book presents six separate research articles that I had written over the years. It does not have one single theme and as such each chapter has a different approach. Three chapters in the book are focused on thematic topics of India (Gandhi & Modi, Hinduism and Folklore) while the other three chapters have a focus on North East of India. The lead essay, on Gandhi and Modi, which lends its name to the sub-title of the book, is a novel take on how Gandhiji's vision has been implemented through many of the policies introduced by Narendra Modi as Prime Minister since May 2014. In effect, the article presents how Gandhi's vision for India, left unfulfilled over decades by the Congress, is being implemented by Narendra Modi. The book also outlines the theoretical base for Modi's economic philosophy. Often called Modinomics, the economic philosophy of Modi is a welfare capitalist bottom-up economic approach of self-reliance or swadeshi. Similarly, the other articles analyses the impact of colonialism in India, especially the North East, and how these colonial underpinning have led to an incomplete decolonization in the region. A chapter on folklore explores how even folklore and oral history has become subject to colonial underpinnings in India. Removing these underpinnings is a challenge to unearth the true heritage of India at the crossroad. The book also has an appendix of Gandhi writings, and an article on Settler Colonialism which is relevant to interpret the triangular social formation in North East India. To help readers understand the context of each article, an overview of that article precedes the said article. As each article is complete by itself, readers may like to read and enjoy each chapter separately, independent of the entire book. Bringing together six themes into one book is never an easy task. While each article is different, yet they do carry a common theme: all the articles are on historical interpretation of India in the colonial and post-colonial period. In his foreword to the book, written by Dr. Bibek Debroy, well known economist and Chairman, Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister of India, he mentioned "Dr Goswami is a historian and a researcher and the six essays in this volume illustrate the impeccable quality of his research [...] This is a very rich collection of essays. Indeed, one can go further and suggest that each of these essays deserves to be spun out into a full-fledged book. However, until Sanjib Goswami decides to do that, this wonderful collection will have to suffice".

On the morning of 15 August 1947, when Jawaharlal Nehru, heir to Mahatma Gandhi, the Buddha and the European Enlightenment, raised the Indian Tricolour on the ramparts of the Red Fort, the seventeenth-century palace of Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan, India was free to make experiments with freedom. In the seven decades since Independence, the country gradually changed from Nehru's democratic socialism to Narendra Modi's democratic entrepreneurial digital India, dealing with its internal contradictions by playing the game of democracy and in the process becoming the sixth-largest global economy. And with Chandrayaan exploring the Moon, a space nation was born. India overlooks the Himalayas and the Indian Ocean, abridging Southeast Asia with the Middle East. With its immense brainpower and young demographics, India is geopolitically an indispensable nation. Indians play the game of democracy any which way they can: through massive elections; parliamentary debates and no-confidence motions; coalition forming and horse-trading; hartals, bandhs, dharnas, fast-unto-death; and finally, when nothing works, they knock at the doors of the Supreme Court. India in a New Key attempts to offer an insight into questions like: -How has India been experimenting with freedom to solve its socio-economic problems? -Can Modi-like Nehru-create a unified Indian consciousness?

Great Soul written by Joseph Lelyveld and has been published by Vintage this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011-03-29 with Biography & Autobiography categories.

A highly original, stirring book on Mahatma Gandhi that deepens our sense of his achievements and disappointments—his success in seizing India’s imagination and shaping its independence struggle as a mass movement, his recognition late in life that few of his followers paid more than lip service to his ambitious goals of social justice for the country’s minorities, outcasts, and rural poor. Pulitzer Prize–winner Joseph Lelyveld shows in vivid, unmatched detail how Gandhi’s sense of mission, social values, and philosophy of nonviolent resistance were shaped on another subcontinent—during two decades in South Africa—and then tested by an India that quickly learned to revere him as a Mahatma, or “Great Soul,” while following him only a small part of the way to the social transformation he envisioned. The man himself emerges as one of history’s most remarkable self-creations, a prosperous lawyer who became an ascetic in a loincloth wholly dedicated to political and social action. Lelyveld leads us step-by-step through the heroic—and tragic—last months of this selfless leader’s long campaign when his nonviolent efforts culminated in the partition of India, the creation of Pakistan, and a bloodbath of ethnic cleansing that ended only with his own assassination. India and its politicians were ready to place Gandhi on a pedestal as “Father of the Nation” but were less inclined to embrace his teachings. Muslim support, crucial in his rise to leadership, soon waned, and the oppressed untouchables—for whom Gandhi spoke to Hindus as a whole—produced their own leaders. Here is a vital, brilliant reconsideration of Gandhi’s extraordinary struggles on two continents, of his fierce but, finally, unfulfilled hopes, and of his ever-evolving legacy, which more than six decades after his death still ensures his place as India’s social conscience—and not just India’s.
