Buku ini merupakan hasil penelitian yang dilakukan di Dusun Karampuang Desa Tompobulu Kabupaten Sinjai. Buku ini diharapkan sebagai tambahan materi pada mata kuliah Ekilogi Lingkungan dan Pembangun di Jurusan Geografi. Isi buku ini berupa Nilai-nilai Kearifan Lokal Masyarakat adat Karampuang dalam Konsevasi hutan yang diinternalisasikan dalam bentuk pesan (Pappaseng). Pappaseng adat ini masih terdapat berupa anjuran cara ritual yang bertentangan dengan ajaran Islam yang mereka anut, tetapi menurut penulis hal ini merupakan tantangan bagi muballik untuk meluruskan Aqidah mereka. Banyak pihak yang memberi dukungan dan sumbangan pikiran dalam penyusunan buku ini, untuk itu penulis menyampaikan ucapan terima kasih kepada Bapak Dr. Singgih Susilo, MS., M.Si selaku penguji bidang studi Bapak dan Ibu dosen pembina mata kuliah yang tidak dapat penulis sebutkan satu per satu yang telah banyak memberikan bekal ilmu kepada saya selama mengikuti perkuliahan di Program Doktor Pendidikan Geografi Pascasarjana Universitas Negeri Malang. Puang Tomatoa, Puang Gella, Puang Sanro, dan Puang Guru selaku tokoh adat Karampuang yang bersedia meluangkan waktunya untuk diwawancarai oleh saya dalam menggali kearifan lokal di daerahnya. Bapak Mahmuddin sebagai Kepala Desa Tompobulu yang telah memberikan kemudahan dalam melakukan penelitian. Pemerintah Sulawesi selatan dan Kabupaten Sinjai yang memberikan izin memberikan izin penelitian. Almarhum Ayahanda tercinta Bapak Abdullah dan Ibunda Mustiha yang telah melahirkan, membesarkan, mendidik, mengarahkan dengan penuh kasih sayang, dan selalu mendoakan di setiap langkah dan kehidupan penulis. Istriku tercinta Andi Andariana, S.Pd., M.Pd, yang senantiasa memberikan suasana ceria, harmonis, dukungan, dan motivasi kepada penulis dalam menempuh pendidikan di Pascasarjana Universitas Negeri Malang.
