Explore the feelings of men toward other men without the pigeonholing found in terms like “gay” and “straight”! Male to Male: Sexual Feeling Across the Boundaries of Identity starts with the evidence that most studies on male sexuality have ignored--the same-sex feelings of men whose identities are heterosexual. Of the more than fifty men in this book, almost half were aware of some degree of same-sex feeling. But beyond percentages, the primary focus of Male to Male is the exploration--through their own words--of how these men experienced same-sex feelings, what these feelings meant to them, the fears surrounding them, and the consequences of the collision between their heterosexual identities and their same-sex feelings. In addition to comparative data on women's same-sex feelings, as well as on what men say in regard to their feelings about women, Male to Male includes material from two in-depth case studies. The first is on Clark, an African-American man who moved into sex with men in prison. His story shows that the need to see gay men as feminine is really a cultural defense against the powerful pull toward the male-to-male bond, and points to the movement to fulfill that bond when this defense is dropped. The second is on Zack, a gay police officer. His story explores the different dimensions and meanings of the male-to-male bond as these unfolded in his own life, while telling about the heterosexually identified men who “came out” to him about their own same-sex feelings. Male to Male will help you explore: same-sex feelings in heterosexual men and women same-sex feelings in the military prison culture and the “heterosexual role” the fear of domination the aesthetics of fear and power the dynamics of rape compassionate relationships between heterosexual-identified men . . . and much more! Male to Male provides evidence showing that the identity that really counts--constituting the deepest source from which men's sexual feelings for each other spring--is not specifically a gay or heterosexual identity. That source is, rather, a male identity, and--beyond that--a human identity.

A Womans Guide to the Male Mind is the indirect result of a blog that I wrote in 2005 How Do You Tell If a Guy Fancies You? The article was so popular, receiving more than 70 replies from women with lots more questions, that I launched my web site www.seducemen.co.uk. Since then, most of the advice Ive given in hundreds of published articles was based on my own experiences and those of my friends. To write the book, however, I adopted a more scientific approach. I performed a significant amount of research into recent discoveries by anthropologists, sociologists, psychologists and biochemists on topics ranging from basic sexual attraction to personality type and male/female communications strategies. Its my belief, therefore, that A Womans Guide to the Male Mind features the best of two worlds: common sense opinions backed by solid empirical evidence. By helping ladies understand the male point of view with regard to sex, dating and relationships; I hope to eliminate the senseless conflicts that so often erupt between lovers and would-be lovers. Once you understand a few fundamentals about the male mind and male behaviour, you will stop thinking of men as inscrutable blockheads and primitive misfits. You will no longer regard them as you would a small, nasty child or an alien race. Arming yourself with the wisdom in this book, youll increase your odds of finding happiness and harmony in romantic relationships, and you will help ensure that this bliss lasts a lifetime. By the time a man reaches maturity, he has passed through four evolutionary stages in his attitude toward women and relationships. Its very important to understand and identify these four stages, because it will save you from wasting time on guys who arent ready for serious romance.

"There is much to like about a book which gets real about the male anus as a site of penetrability which is not reducible to discourses of feminization, phallicization or psychosis. With real panache and poetic flair, it returns us to an earlier moment in queer theoretical discourse we would associate with Lee Edelman's Homographesis (easily the best book ever written in queer theory and every page of The Penetrated Male reminded me of it), Calvin Thomas' Male Matters, and Leo Bersani's "Is the Rectum a Grave?" Given the recent squeamishness ... in queer theoretical circles about shit, anality, and penetrability, there is real value (and it is not some sort of nostalgia for an earlier moment we might want to get back to) in this book which never shies away from any of these matters. As embodied and eroticized theory, it fills a much needed hole in contemporary discourse about the male body. It is a book I should like to have written." (Michael O'Rourke) Through nuanced readings of a handful of modernist texts (Baudelaire, Huysmans, Wilde, Genet, Joyce, and Schreber's Memoirs), this book explores and interrogates the figure of the penetrated male body, developing the concept of the behind as a site of both fascination and fear. Deconstructing the penetrated male body and the genderisation of its representation, The Penetrated Male offers new understandings of passivity, suggesting that the modern masculine subject is predicated on a penetrability it must always disavow. Arguing that representation is the embodiment of erotic thought, it is an important contribution to queer theory and our understandings of gendered bodies.

Tokugawa Japan ranks with ancient Athens as a society that not only tolerated, but celebrated, male homosexual behavior. Few scholars have seriously studied the subject, and until now none have satisfactorily explained the origins of the tradition or elucidated how its conventions reflected class structure and gender roles. Gary P. Leupp fills the gap with a dynamic examination of the origins and nature of the tradition. Based on a wealth of literary and historical documentation, this study places Tokugawa homosexuality in a global context, exploring its implications for contemporary debates on the historical construction of sexual desire. Combing through popular fiction, law codes, religious works, medical treatises, biographical material, and artistic treatments, Leupp traces the origins of pre-Tokugawa homosexual traditions among monks and samurai, then describes the emergence of homosexual practices among commoners in Tokugawa cities. He argues that it was "nurture" rather than "nature" that accounted for such conspicuous male/male sexuality and that bisexuality was more prevalent than homosexuality. Detailed, thorough, and very readable, this study is the first in English or Japanese to address so comprehensively one of the most complex and intriguing aspects of Japanese history.

Male On Male Rape written by Michael Scarce and has been published by Da Capo Press, Incorporated this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1997-08-21 with Political Science categories.

Male on Male Rape: The Hidden Toll of Stigma and Shame examines a form of violence that, despite worldwide prevalence, remains vastly underreported and unrecognized. Michael Scarce, coordinator of a rape education and prevention program and a survivor of adult male rape, investigates the substantial effects of male-on-male sexual violence on individuals and society, dispelling popular myths and questioning why most communities cannot or will not confront the problem of same-sex sexual violence. This groundbreaking book is the culmination of years of research that includes numerous interviews with straight and gay male rape survivors, an analysis of popular media, case studies, and the author's own personal and professional experience. Male on Male Rape shatters the silence surrounding this sexual violence in our society while offering concrete initiatives and strategies for addressing the rape of men by men. It is an invaluable resource for anyone interested in the prevention of rape or the healing of rape's devastating effects.
