In a world where knowledge is power and passion is the driving force, two individuals embark on a journey of self-discovery and enlightenment. Sarah is a brilliant young scholar with an insatiable thirst for knowledge. She spends her days poring over books and scrolls, eager to unlock the secrets of the universe. But despite her vast knowledge, she feels a void in her life, a longing for something more than just intellectual pursuits. John is a passionate artist with a gift for capturing the beauty and wonder of the world around him. He pours his heart and soul into his paintings, using his art to express his deepest emotions and connect with others. But despite his artistic success, he yearns for a deeper understanding of the world and his place in it. Their paths cross one day when Sarah stumbles upon John's art exhibit. She is captivated by the raw emotion and beauty of his paintings, and she senses that there is more to this artist than meets the eye. John, in turn, is drawn to Sarah's intelligence and her eagerness to learn. As they spend more time together, Sarah and John realize that they complement each other perfectly. Sarah's knowledge helps John to understand the world in new and deeper ways, while John's passion inspires Sarah to see the beauty and wonder in everyday life. Together, they embark on a journey of self-discovery and enlightenment, exploring the depths of human knowledge and the heights of human passion. Along the way, they face challenges and obstacles, but their love for each other and their shared pursuit of knowledge and passion help them to overcome adversity and achieve their dreams. This is a story about the power of knowledge and passion to transform lives. It is a story about the importance of finding balance between the intellect and the heart. And it is a story about the transformative power of love. If you like this book, write a review!

Knowledge And Passion written by Michelle Zimbalist Rosaldo and has been published by Cambridge University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1980-03-31 with Social Science categories.

Michelle Rosaldo presents an ethnographic interpretation of the life of the Ilongots, a group of some 3,500 hunters and horticulturists in Northern Luzon, Philippines. Her study focuces on headhunting, a practice that remained active among the Ilongots until at least 1972. Indigenous notions of 'knowledge' and 'passion' are crucial to the Ilongots' perceptions of their own social practices of headhunting, oratory, marriage, and the organization of subsistence labour. In explaining the significance of these key ideas, Professor Rosaldo examines what she considers to be the most important dimensions of Ilongot social relationships: the contrasts between men and women and between accomplished married men and bachelor youths. By defining 'knowledge' and 'passion' in the context of their social and affective significance, the author demonstrates the place of headhunting in historical and political processes, and shows the relation between headhunting and indigenous concepts of curing, reproduction, and health. Theoretically oriented toward interpretive of symbolic ethnography, this book clarifies some of the ways in which the study of a language - both vocabulary and patterns of usage - is a study of a culture; the process of translation is presented as a method of cultural interpretation. Professor Rosaldo argues that an appreciation of the Ilongots' specific notions of 'the self' and the emotional concepts associated with headhunting can illuminate central aspects of the group's social life.

"Only a wayfarer born under unruly stars would attempt to put into practice in our epoch of proliferating knowledge the Heraclitean dictum that `men who love wisdom must be inquirers into very many things indeed.'" Thus begins this remarkable interdisciplinary study of time by a master of the subject. And while developing a theory of "time as conflict," J. T. Fraser does offer "many things indeed"--an enormous range of ideas about matter, life, death, evolution, and value.

This second edition of Women, Knowledge, and Reality continues to exhibit the ways in which feminist philosophers enrich and challenge philosophy. Essays by twenty-five feminist philosophers, seventeen of them new to the second edition, address fundamental issues in philosophical and feminist methods, metaphysics, epistemology, and the philosophies of science, language, religion and mind/body. This second edition expands the perspectives of women of color, of postmodernism and French feminism, and focuses on the most recent controversies in feminist theory and philosophy. The chapters are organized by traditional fields of philosophy, and include introductions which contrast the ideas of feminist thinkers with traditional philosophers. The collected essays illustrate both the depth and breadth of feminist critiques and the range of contemporary feminist theoretical perspectives.

Professional Learning In The Knowledge Society written by Karen Jensen and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-10-20 with Education categories.

This book presents an entirely new approach to professional learning based on perspectives of the knowledge society and, in particular, an interpretation of Knorr Cetina’s work on scientific ‘epistemic cultures’. Starting with a conceptual chapter and followed by a suite of empirical studies from accountancy, education, nursing and software engineering, the book elaborates how: a) knowledge production and circulation take distinct forms in those fields; b) how the knowledge objects of practice in those fields engross and engage professionals and, in the process, people and knowledge are transformed by this engagement. By foregrounding an explicit concern for the role of knowledge in professional learning, the book goes much farther than the current fashion for describing ‘practice-based learning’. It will therefore be of considerable interest to the research, policy, practitioner and student communities involved with professional education/learning or interested in innovation and knowledge development in the professions.
