This book presents solutions to problems that are total and based on thinking about how and why humans have organized themselves. It discusses how to avoid the now well-documented Holocene Extinction, propelled by climate change, wars, resource depletion, desertification, degrading knowledge quality, famine, and deterioration of societies overall. It explains why we cannot respond effectively with hedonistic, incompetent, corrupt, and anarchistic "liberal democracy" and why neither personality cult regimes can suffice. The book offers a model of an organic social structure embodying a collective consciousness of communitarianism and Platonic-style ethos. Putting an emphasis on the re-establishment of Classical Greek virtue, it offers solutions to resolve identity politics, alienation, and meritocracy. While doing so, the author opposes the "everyone is equal" ideology to govern the section of policymakers, instead circumscribing "rights" in terms of responsibilities, prioritizing education and training to carry forth the ethos of valuing truth above materialism, and developing Durkheim's social brain via a new discipline, "sociointelligence". The book goes on to explain how underpinning these elements is a comprehensive elucidation of often misunderstood words like "liberty", "freedom", "authoritarianism", and "democracy". All of these areas are arranged and combined in uniquely describing the organic society the author deems necessary to avoid human extinction. As a result, the book presents a “new organicity”, where the emerging transhumanism seeks to transcend hydrocarbon-based life with humanly-constructed life. For the past years, more emphasis has been given in understanding the level of cultural adjustment that individuals face on migrating to a new country. Not much attention has been given on studying repatriates. This phenomenological study deals with the experiences of 17 Indian repatriates, their emotional challenges and the various coping strategies that they had to employ in order to smoothen their repatriation process on returning to their home country. Six main themes were identified on applying thematic analysis to the individual semi-structured interviews: relief from hardships faced in the host country, stronger bond with the home country, feeling of being an alien in your home country, dynamic factors upon repatriation, emotive encounters and coming to terms with chaos associated with repatriation. Findings from the study, shows that the repatriates had faced many emotional challenges such as feeling of alienation, difficulty in adjusting to the old culture and getting a job, adjusting to the new work settings, grief on leaving the host country, idleness and laziness felt on repatriation, societal and familial pressure and financial struggles. Financial security, positive adjustment to the new work settings and the new income scale, lessons learned from the hostile experiences faced while abroad, pre-arrangements done in the home country before repatriating and reintegrating host culture into home culture served as an effective coping strategy, which eventually helped them in their successful repatriation over time.

This book is the first coherently written multi-author monograph on Web Intelli gence (WI). It offers a thorough introduction and a systematic overview of the new field. It reflects the current state of the research and development in various areas of WI, as well as theoretical and application aspects of WI and Web-based intelligent information systems and services. It highlights several promising WI topics, which will impact on the development of the ultimate Wisdom Web. The book contains one introductory paper and 19 survey/research papers. The papers are structured into six parts: Web agents, Web mining and farming, Web information retrieval, Web knowledge management, the infrastructure for Web in telligent systems, and social network intelligence. We conceived and coined the notion Web Intelligence in late 1999. Back then although there was a variety of Web- or Internet-related conferences, journals, and books, none was devoted to the intelligence aspects of Web information systems and services. It was felt that there was a need for a conference, a journal, and/or books for researchers, scientists, and industry practitioners who wanted to publish and exchange ideas on Web Intelligence. At the 24th Annual International Computer Software and Applications Confer ence (IEEE COMPSAC) in 2000, we first introduced Web Intelligence. In 2001, the first Web Intelligence conference (WI 2001, http://kis.maebashi-it.ac.jp/wiOll) was successfully held in Maebashi, Japan.
