Materi pada buku ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan mahasiswa higiene gigi atau mahasiswa kesehatan dalam melaksanakan manajemen pada klien yang mempunyai medical compromise dalam kondisi dependen dalam praktik pelayanan kesehatan untuk menghasilkan perawatan dental hygiene yang menyeluruh serta berfokus pada kesembuhan klien. Materi yang diberikan meliputi kasus klien yang memiliki kondisi medical compromise yang dirawat di klinik gigi maupun bangsal rawat inap, dengan kondisi khusus seperti tingkat kesadaran compos mentis atau di bawahnya, sehingga memungkinkan mahasiswa dapat mengkaji tatalaksana asuhan higiene gigi yang tepat pada kasus medical compromise di klinik gigi maupun rawat jalan sesuai dengan kebutuhannya.
