I grew up in Kerala as the eldest daughter of a middle class family struggling to meet the both ends, with three sisters in a row and a brother at the end. My marriage was arranged to a man without my consent; he married me because of the pressure from his mother. Then I found that my college mate, whom I had a crush on, was also a victim of manipulations by his close family members. Manipulation to him was more visible, but he was too polite to resist due to love, respect, and concerns he carried in his mind for them. By hearing his story and experiencing the result of coaxing in my own life, I thought of telling these to somebody, but had no intention to publish. But my college mate made me promise to him to write his side of the story after his death which I did in this book. Then I added my story too with it.I believe the time parents selecting the spouses for their children are gone. It worked for ages, but the high aspirations, freedom, independence and globalization changed the culture and demography, challenging the old order. It is high time that parents ask the children's wish in finding their spouses. Incompatibility between couples is a major reason for divorce .I hope my memoir will be a lesson to many including parents and the young ones who are getting ready to wed.

Do you think that no one can control you? Well, we sincerely feel sorry for you because it means that you do not know anything about natural manipulation modes. No one thought up manipulation modes, as it is a purely natural mechanism, which is built into psyche of every human being at the level of unconditioned reflexes and instincts. Therefore, no human being can resist their application. Using technological terms, manipulation modes are the "factory settings" of Mother Nature itself; they are built into the structure of psyche of Homo sapiens at the level of instincts and unconditioned reflexes—meaning, inborn reactions of an organism to certain influences of the external or the internal environment. No one is able to notice transmittance of natural manipulation modes towards him/her, regardless of his/her professional skills, educational level, life experience and intuition, as these modes are an inherent part of individual structure of human psyche. They are his/her own, native; what is called—"closer than skin." Probably, the unprecedented power of this tool and its effectiveness are due to that it is a nature’s creation. Nobody invented or developed manipulation modes. Information about this natural mechanism and practical tool for managing a human are of a very archaic origin. Both were accidentally found by a Russian researcher-sinologist Andrey Davydov, while he was studying one very ancient source. The title of this source is 山海經 Shan Hai Jing (translated from Chinese as the Catalog of Mountains and Seas). Authorship and the exact dating of Shan Hai Jing are still unknown. However, according to some experts, it dates back to XXIII century BC. The existence of this text has long been known. The ancient Chinese philosopher Confucius (IV-V centuries BC) was familiar with it, but prior to the discovery made by Andrey Davydov no one even supposed what kind of information is encrypted in this ancient source. However, despite that the researcher was able to uncover the secret of Shan Hai Jing and find out that this ancient Chinese monument is nothing other than the original "instruction to Homo sapiens," the description of a blueprint, pattern of human psyche—this source still remains mysterious. At least because it is still unknown who left the writings with this knowledge to people. We think that it is easy to conclude from everything stated above that your favorite mantra "It is impossible to manipulate me" will no longer help you. Despite that your fantasies about being unmanageable will remain with you and just like before you will feel absolute freedom, independence and randomness of all of your actions—if someone will want you to, then you will twitch like a puppet on invisible strings. All that now remains in your power it to decide whether to continue being a subject for someone's manipulations or to choose the position of a manipulator. There is no third option anymore. However, we are not suggesting to believe in that this is really the case. We never urge anyone to believe (including us) because we know that faith is one of the factors, which has a very harmful effect on human psychophysiology. We are offering a different life principle: knowledge. MANipulated Into Fear is based on a true story about a man I went to high school with and years later married and divorced three times within thirteen years. His name was Rolf. During this time, I was living the dark side of life but others perceived me as living a happy and perfect life. Back in our high school days Rolf grew up as a farmer and drank beer with his buddies. After high school he began to run with the wrong crowd and changed dramatically. I knew he liked to drink a lot of beer and liquor and had used drugs in the past, but I was not aware of his addictive personality and the severity of his addictions. At the beginning of our relationship each time he portrayed himself as the man I had thought he was years before. Within a period of time he began to manipulate me into fear and take control of my life to benefit himself. All three times in the beginning of my relationship with Rolf he was dedicated to Christ, was family-oriented, charming, kind, respectful, and loving, complimented me all the time, apologized for his actions, and knew how to make me feel sorry for him. Shortly after I would marry him he would begin to manipulate and con me into doing things I did not want to do. Rolf would call me uncountable times during the day and want to know my whereabouts. He then insisted on being with me except for when I was at work. This took my time away from friends and family, and that is when the mental abuse began. He stopped complimenting me and began calling me names making me feel worthless, and told me that nobody liked me. When I would accuse him of wrongdoings he would become outraged, screaming at me and using profanity. After he gained control of me, the physical abuse began. Later, I learned that I had repeatedly been involved with a psychopath and that there is always a pattern. Get out of the relationship and don't go back! The person will never change!
