When guitarist Dean Thibodeaux tries to score weed the night before his band goes on tour, the deal ends in a brutal attack he wasn’t supposed to survive. Stiff, bloody, sore—but alive—he boards the bus with his band, determined to keep the one thing that’s important in his life on track. Carl Delacroix failed his sister. And in the dead of night, with a gun in his waistband and nothing left to lose, he fails her again: his hesitation lets her killer get away. Short on sleep, short on cash, and determined not to make a trifecta out of his failure, he takes off after her attacker. And finds himself following a tour bus. Dean Thibodeaux is sick. He’s changing. And the thing that caused it is coming after him, intent on fixing its mistake. One man is hunting evil. The other is becoming it. Salvation lies in the crossing of their paths.

More Molecules Of Murder written by John Emsley and has been published by Royal Society of Chemistry this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-06-23 with Molecular toxicology categories.

How can a plant as beautiful as the foxglove be so deadly and yet for more than a century be used to treat heart disease? The same is true of other naturally occurring molecules as will be revealed in this current book by award-winning author and chemist, John Emsley. More Molecules of Murder follows on from his highly-acclaimed earlier book Molecules of Murder, and again it deals with 14 potential poisons; seven of which are man-made and seven of which are natural. It investigates the crimes committed with them, not from the point of view of the murderers, their victims, or the detectives, but from the poison used. In so doing it throws new light on how these crimes were carried out and ultimately how the perpetrators were uncovered and brought to justice. Each chapter starts by looking at the target molecule itself, its discovery, its chemistry, its often-surprising use in medicine, its effects on the human body, and its toxicology. The rest of the chapter is devoted to murders and attempted murders in which it has been used. But, be reassured that murder by poison is not the threat it once was, thanks to laws which restrict access to such materials and to the skills of analytical chemists in detecting their presence in incredibly tiny amounts.

Artificial Religion written by Neville Williams and has been published by Trafford Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-07-15 with Religion categories.

Some things might seem difficult to cover. My main aim is to stick to the important topic, to get the message through to everyone. I find the stuff being taught in the name of religion to be a waste of time. Many students are learning things that have to be unlearned at a later date. For example, students would need to unlearn the false, in order to take up a logical study of science. Students would need to unlearn the false, in order to just live a quiet and peaceful life (after their education is complete). And worst of all, students would need to unlearn the false in order to have any chance of understanding their instruction book. Present-day thoughts are often the result of long-held views (which is the very thing that needs to be cleared up). Matters concerning evolution and the work of Charles Darwin are not widely covered in this book. What is covered is an instruction book and how that book interacts with some of the views of science and opposes false religion. Matters concerning the science of Charles Darwin will be covered in a second book, with the title Off the Hook. I recognised at an early age that there was something unique about the instruction book from my own experience during my school years. I was challenged to go look it up. So I toddled off with a scrap of paper, having a chapter name and some directions. I dusted off an old family book and began to flick through it, looking for an exact chapter and verse (to see what was really there). Then I heard others heading towards the room. I quickly turned the book over and sat a magazine on top. It seems I didnt want anyone to see me reading that book. When I thought about it later, it seemed quite strange. Why was that one book so different from any other? If I had been reading any other book that daysay, a history book or a book of genealogy or even a novelI wouldnt have felt any stigma whatsoever. I realised that people like me were actually forbidding themselves from reading it. I began to wonder what kind of silent force was at work (inside my head) to make me feel that way. And why was it only that book. The following statement is repeated at the end of the book. My final comment is very plain and clear: there is no wriggle room at all. So before I go there, Id like to take the time to cover my own credentials. What right do I have to read and understand the instruction book? Or what sort of person would qualify as a candidate for reading and understanding the truth? For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself. (Gal. 6:3) For whoever exalts himself shall be abased; and he that humbles himself shall be exalted. (Luke 14:11) Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seems to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise. (1 Cor. 3:18) My first full-time job was with Telecom Australia, known as postmaster, generals department. (I came sixth in the state in the entrance exam.) I didnt get that job, yet I have been hounded all my life to go out and get a real job. The reasons for not getting my first job are simple and straightforward (just like me). This is how my doctors certificate reads, and these are the reasons why an Australian Government department rejected me as a fellow human being. And yes, they are still hounding me to get a jobto this day. He has defective vision. He is underweight for his age (poor physique). He has a history of asthma. So you see, I am foolish and weak. I am a simpleton and a blockhead. And there are plenty of folks in my local area who can back that up!

The Victorian Approach To Modernism In The Fiction Of Dorothy L Sayers written by Aoife Leahy and has been published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2009-05-27 with Literary Criticism categories.

Dorothy L. Sayers wrote bestselling detective novels and short stories in the 1920s and 1930s. Working within a popular medium, Sayers promotes nineteenth century and modernist literature with skills learnt during a period of employment in an advertising agency. In much of her fiction she recommends her choice of good books by name. She also suggests that taking Victorian literature as a foundation can bring her reader to a better understanding of literary modernism. With a didactic intent, Sayers shows how Lewis Carroll’s Alice can help us to eventually read Virginia Woolf, for instance. Her approach to educating her readers is always through entertainment. Sayers worked briefly as a teacher before taking up copywriting and retained important insights on how to improve the learning experience for any reader. Sayers’ admiration for the Victorian sensation author Wilkie Collins is widely recognised. This book examines Sayers’ attention to equally important Victorian influences from John Ruskin and George Eliot to Oscar Wilde, particularly in relation to the topic of education. She often questions the boundaries between “popular” and “serious” literature. Sayers’ personal views on the connections between mid-Victorian, late Victorian and high modernist authors are also considered.
