La Arteterapia es un método de trabajo que permite abordar aspectos psicológicos con base en la teoría. Su origen se deriva de la Psiquiatría clínica, la Psicología avanzada y estudios sobre el trabajo en artes visuales y plásticas, cursos que se impartían en universidades, sobre todo de EUA (Marxen, 2011). Tales antecedentes fueron retomados por Landgarten (1981), ya que por medio de estos enriqueció sus conocimientos en el ámbito del psicoanálisis, así como su trabajo en consulta privada, observación y experiencia clínica. En el capítulo 1 se relatan algunos antecedentes biográficos y se describe el Modelo de intervención de la Clínica de Arteterapia de la Dra. Helen Landgarten, lo cual constituye una base estructural del contenido y la propuesta de este manual. En el capítulo 2 se hace una breve reseña, con base en la teoría, del modelo de trabajo que suele seguir la Psicología comunitaria por proyecto, como una manera de plantear un primer acercamiento a su praxis; además, es una forma de focalizar esfuerzos y conocimientos para trabajar con grupos que se encuentren en condiciones de necesidad y otros grupos de trabajo en particular. Asimismo, se hacen sugerencias en términos de acciones para alcanzar el objetivo del presente material: “Crear una metodología a seguir por los arteterapeutas de los procesos grupales para grupos en condiciones difíciles de vida y otros grupos de trabajo con Arteterapia”. En el capítulo 3 se lleva a cabo de manera concreta la propuesta basada en experiencias, la cual se lleva a cabo en 20 pasos. De acuerdo con estas ideas, en el capítulo 4 se presentan algunas recomendaciones para el uso estratégico del arte como medio para entender procesos grupales y generar involucramiento que permita facilitar cambios o lograr objetivos. Por último, en el capítulo 5 se presenta, a modo de conclusiones y sugerencias, el análisis que se realizó respecto al uso, aplicación y limitaciones que se deben tener presentes cuando se usa el arte como medio para generar involucramiento en el trabajo con grupos. Así como se hacen algunas consideraciones para su uso dentro del contexto de la clínica, investigación y educación, también se sugieren algunas acciones para la práctica de terapeutas, investigadores y docentes, con base en la buena práctica y bajo estándares éticos. Al final se anexa un apéndice con formatos, cuyo objetivo es facilitar otros procesos colaterales que incluyen: cómo hacer una historia clínica; cómo registrar el proceso de evaluación y diagnóstico, de seguimiento y monitoreo, de implementación y diseño de metas (por sesión y por etapa de la intervención); un formato de consentimiento para fotografiar las expresiones de arte, entre otros.
