Il presente Manuale vuole essere una solida guida pratica per chi intende trasformare la propria azienda, sposando il sistema di miglioramento proposto dal WCM. Verranno spiegati i fondamentali teorici del WCM, la struttura organizzativa per il cambiamento, gli strumenti pratici per il miglioramento continuo, le modalità di applicazione e verranno presentati alcuni esempi pratici per facilitare l’implementazione. Sarà necessario partire consolidando la conoscenza della filosofia Lean e del Toyota Production System, perché il WCM trae origini e spunto proprio da questo approccio al miglioramento continuo, per poi concentrare l’attenzione sul modello di Operational Excellence proposto. Il libro è strutturato secondo uno schema progressivo, per permettere anche al lettore neofita dell’argomento di metabolizzare la conoscenza, grazie all’introduzione progressiva dei concetti: Il primo capitolo riguarda la storia ed i principi della Lean Manufacturing o Produzione Snella. Il WCM è un metodo figlio di questo approccio, il percorso verso l’eccellenza deve partire dalla solida conoscenza delle radici del metodo; Il secondo capitolo tratta il modello operativo del WCM per lo sviluppo aziendale, inquadrando in maniera complessiva la metodologia e la struttura organizzativa che ne sostiene l’evoluzione; Il terzo capitolo si concentra sui 10 pilastri (pillar) manageriali, che costituiscono il cuore della trasformazione valoriale alla base del cambiamento operativo verso l’eccellenza. Ignorare i pillar manageriali significa implementare estemporaneamente strumenti che non potranno sopravvivere nel tempo e rimanere strutturali in azienda, perché mancheranno le radici culturali e valoriali del WCM; Il quarto capitolo introduce i 10 pilastri (pillar) tecnici, cuore operativo del WCM ed elementi portanti della pratica del miglioramento. I 10 pillar individuano 10 aree, all’interno delle attività e dei processi produttivi, nelle quali affrontare il miglioramento in maniera indipendente, seguendo un disegno complessivo di governance coerente con il progresso aziendale; Il quinto capitolo fornisce gli elementi organizzativi di base e l’architettura fondante del cambiamento secondo il WCM: l’organizzazione e la gestione per pillar, l’utilizzo di diversi Kaizen per il miglioramento; Il sesto capitolo suggerisce un potenziale percorso di trasformazione aziendale secondo il WCM, un cammino progressivo verso l’Eccellenza Operativa. Questo capitolo ha lo scopo di aiutare le aziende ad introdurre il WCM secondo un approccio progressivo e scientifico, che ha già dimostrato di essere efficace. Non si tratta dell’unico sistema possibile, ma riteniamo sia quello che sfrutta al meglio le sinergie fra pillar, crescita culturale, conoscenza tecnica e consolida- mento dei risultati; L’ultimo capitolo, il settimo, è dedicato alla descrizione dettagliata degli strumenti pratici e metodologici necessari nell’applicazione efficace del WCM. Questo capitolo racchiude la parte più squisitamente operativa, ed è stato impostato per essere una guida all’utilizzo di ogni strumento descritto, oltre che un utile memory jogger per richiamare velocemente gli elementi chiave di concetti noti.
