Zunehmend lassen sich Urlaubsreisen bei Buchungen im Internet durch kundenseitige Zusammenstellung ihrer Teilleistungen individuell spezifizieren. Die wachsenden Individualisierungsmöglichkeiten werfen die Frage nach deren Nutzen aus der Sicht von Kunden auf. Ein Vergleich online buchbarer Bausteinreisen, also individualisierbaren Bündeln touristischer Leistungen mit vorkonfigurierten, fertig geschnürten Pauschalreisen erlaubt die Bestimmung der Nutzendifferenz zwischen den beiden Angebotsformen und damit des Nutzens der Individualisierungsmöglichkeit. Mit Hilfe eines Strukturgleichungsmodells und der PLS-Pfadanalyse werden funktionale, hedonistische und emotionale Bestandteile dieses Individualisierungsnutzens untersucht. Dazu wurden Teilnehmer eines online-Panels befragt, die über Erfahrung mit der Buchung beider Angebotsformen von Urlaubsreisen verfügen. Die so generierten, ersten Befunde über die postulierten Nutzenfacetten verweisen auf die Bedeutung der Einzigartigkeit individualisierbarer Urlaubsreisen, den Stolz und die Zufriedenheit des Kunden mit dessen eigenen Gestaltungsbeitrag sowie der besseren Anpassung der Bausteinreisen an seine Bedürfnisse. Abschließend werden Ansatzpunkte für weitere Forschung aufgezeigt und diskutiert, wie Praktiker die Untersuchungsergebnisse in der Kommunikation umsetzen könnten.
