An Artist S Way Of Seeing written by Mary Whyte and has been published by Gibbs Smith this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2005 with Art categories.

Artist Mary Whyte has learned many lessons over the years--lessons about art and, perhaps more important to her, lessons about life. In this book, she uses specific illustrations from her training, her teaching, her travels and her mentors to show the reader how to see and how to appreciate the artist's experience. Referring to numerous color and black and white examples, she explains what her intentions and feelings were during the composition and completion of many of her favorite works. The techniques of watercolor painting can be learned. Skill, according to Mary, is never enough. One must learn to feel as well as to see in order to become a complete artist and a complete person. Her paintings are beautiful; so is her soul. Mary Whyte is a graduate of The Tyler School of Art and is a nationally known watercolor artist, author and teacher. She is a resident of Johns Island, South Carolina, where she finds many of her subjects among the Gullah people--descendants of the slave culture of the barrier islands of coastal Carolina. Her works have been exhibited at and collected by many art galleries and museums. She is the author of Alfreda's World and the illustrator of a number of children's books.

Walking With Mary written by Edward Sri and has been published by Image this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-09-10 with Religion categories.

Mary appears only a few times in the Bible, but those few passages come at crucial moments. Catholics believe that Mary is the ever-virgin Mother of God, the Queen of Heaven and Earth. But she also was a human being--a woman who made a journey of faith through various trials and uncertainties and endured her share of suffering. Even with her unique graces and vocation, Mary remains a woman we can relate to and from whom we have much to learn. In Walking with Mary, Edward Sri looks at the crucial passages in the Bible concerning Mary and offers insight about the Blessed Mother's faith and devotion that we can apply in our daily lives. We follow her step-by-step through the New Testament account of her life, reflecting on what the Scriptures tell us about how she responded to the dramatic events unfolding around her. “This book is the fruit of my personal journey of studying Mary through the Scriptures, from her initial calling in Nazareth to her painful experience at the cross,” writes Edward Sri “It is intended to be a highly readable, accessible work that draws on wisdom from the Catholic tradition, recent popes, and biblical scholars of a variety of perspectives and traditions. With the riches of these insights, we will ponder what her journey of faith may have been like in order to draw out spiritual lessons for our own walk with God.” He add, “It is my hope, therefore, that whether you are of a Catholic, Protestant, or other faith background, this book may help you to know, understand, and love Mary more, and that it may inspire you to walk in her footsteps as a faithful disciple of the Lord in your own pilgrimage of faith.”

Mary's Journey is a meditation on Mary in the life of the Bible, in the teachings of the Church, and in our life of worship and devotion. It outlines the journey of faith by the most beloved female figure in the Catholic faith tradition. It reflects the best of contemporary scholarship and theological insight. A collection of well-known Marian prayers appear at the back of the book. Father Cameli writes: "I invite you to share in this meditation. Together we will certainly recognize the unique and privileged place of Mary in the story of salvation and in the Church. We will also see her setting a pattern for our journey and accompanying us along the way. My hope is that you, the reader, will return to your own image of Mary, the Mother of God, and find her more alive and present to you than ever before."

Mary Cameron: Life in Paint' explores the fascinating story of Cameron?s life and career, charting her creative journey from elegant family portraits to breathtaking Spanish scenes. Mary Cameron (1865-1921) was an artist and woman ahead of her time. Born in Edinburgh, she began her career as a portraitist and genre painter in her native city, before venturing abroad to study in Paris. Foreign travel proved to be an enduring source of inspiration. In 1900 she visited Madrid for the first time, and was captivated by the Spanish culture, people and scenery. Establishing studios in Madrid and Seville, she executed large-scale compositions of traditional peasant life, dramatic bullfights and rural landscapes. Cameron exhibited widely, and her talents were recognised by contemporaries such as John Lavery and Alexander Roche. However, like many female artists of her generation, her name is now little-known. Exhibition: City Art Centre, Edinburgh, UK (02.11.2019-15.03.2020).

One of NPR's Best Books of the Year From the author of Nothing to Declare, a moving travel narrative examining healing, redemption, and what it means to be a solo woman on the road. In February 2008, a casual afternoon of ice skating derailed the trip of a lifetime. Mary Morris was on the verge of a well-earned sabbatical, but instead she endured three months in a wheelchair, two surgeries, and extensive rehabilitation. One morning, when she was supposed to be in Morocco, Morris was lying on the sofa reading Death in Venice, casting her eyes over these words again and again: “He would go on a journey. Not far. Not all the way to the tigers.” Disaster shifted to possibility and Morris made a decision. When she was well enough to walk again, she would go “all the way to the tigers.” So begins a three-year odyssey that takes Morris to India on a tiger safari in search of the world’s most elusive apex predator. Written in over a hundred short chapters accompanied by the author’s photographs, this travel memoir offers an elegiac, wry, and wise look at a woman on the road and the glorious, elusive creature she seeks.

Mary S Prayer written by Mary McGuinness and has been published by Balboa Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-10-15 with Biography & Autobiography categories.

This memoir of Marys spiritual journey of self-discovery to find inner peace spans a period of fourteen years in which she was unable to find work due to illness. Throughout this period, she began to search for answers herself, which resulted in studying for a degree in psychology. The music of John Lennon and The Beatles has always been important to Mary, and it was through this music that the healing process began. John Lennons character had inspired her throughout her life, particularly in his work for peace with his wife, Yoko Ono. Music in general was very important to the journey that Mary travelled. Marys faith was paramount to the healing process, and she visited the Shrine of Lourdes in France, which was a turning point in her life. In the Church of Frauenkirche in Munich, Mary also felt as though she had received a blessing. The support of Marys family was very important to her recovery. The psychology studies, in particular those of social psychology, impacted on Marys understanding of the illness and motivated her to engage in her own personal research. This has ultimately influenced this book. Similar to John Lennons song, In My Life, the people that Mary met and the places that she visited along the journey were essential to initiate changes in her life. Social Construction Theory and the New Thought Movement were pivotal in changing Marys attitudes and promoted a new way of thinking, which impacted on her recovery. Finally, visiting Liverpool, England, re-energized Mary, and it was critical in changing her life. It is hoped that this story would inspire others who are hoping to make similar changes in their own lives.
