Most of my poems are from life, love, and Mother Nature. My perspectives on life as I feel them about everything that I see, feel, and hear around me and about everything on this earth that comes to my mind—our binds with Mother Nature, with people, our inner feelings, our love for our parents first, our family, then our wives/husbands, our sweet children, and their children. And we should never forget our thanks to our great Creator for the many blessings he has given us up to now, the latest high technology and the Internet, our great earth we live on, about all peoples on earth as we are all from Adam and Eve. As these days, there is less love, which is sharing and caring and less charity around our world for all humanity around us. I’ve written about the awful wars everywhere, particularly the revolution in Syria, which began four years ago—and nothing has been done about it.

This book examines the ethics of end of life care, focusing on the kinds of decisions that are commonly made in clinical practice. Specific attention is paid to the intensification of treatment for terminal symptoms, particularly pain relief, and the withdrawal and withholding of care, particularly life-saving or life-prolonging medical care. The book is structured into three sections. The first section contains essays examining end of life care from the perspective of moral theory and theology. The second sets out various conceptual terms and distinctions relevant to decision-making at the end of life. The third section contains chapters that focus on substantive ethical issues. This format not only provides for a comprehensive analysis of the ethical issues that arise in the context of end of life care but allows readers to effectively trace the philosophical, theological and conceptual underpinnings that inform their specific interests. This work will be of interest to scholars working in the area as well as clinicians, specialists and healthcare professionals who encounter these issues in the course of their practice.

The use of the arts in psychotherapy is a burgeoning area of interest, particularly in the field of bereavement, where it is a staple intervention in hospice programs, children’s grief camps, specialized programs for trauma or combat exposure, work with bereaved parents, widowed elders or suicide survivors, and in many other contexts. But how should clinicians differentiate between the many different approaches and techniques, and what criteria should they use to decide which technique to use—and when? Grief and the Expressive Arts provides the answers using a crisp, coherent structure that creates a conceptual and relational scaffold for an artistically inclined grief therapy. Each of the book’s brief chapters is accessible and clearly focused, conveying concrete methods and anchoring them in brief case studies, across a range of approaches featuring music, creative writing, visual arts, dance and movement, theatre and performance and multi-modal practices. Any clinician—expressive arts therapist, grief counselor, or something in between—looking for a professionally oriented but scientifically informed book for guidance and inspiration need look no further than Grief and the Expressive Arts.

When Mary Magdelene is born into a Jewish family in a small town on the western bank of the Sea of Galilee, no one has any idea of the impact she will have on biblical history for thousands of years to come. As she grows up learning to have a reverence for God, celebrating auspicious days, and listening to the prayers and readings of the Torah, Mary eventually matures into a young woman who understands the value of charitable work, her familys business, and loving God. Eventually Marys lifes journey leads her to realize that she enjoys her freedom more than the idea of marrying. It is only after she learns to ask for forgivness for her sins that fate leads Mary to meet the prophet, Jesus of Nazareth, and realize divine elation. After he recruits her to join his ministry, Mary sets down a path to meet her destiny as she defies the odds and throws herself into pioneering work to develop the early Christian church. In this inspirational novel, the coming-of-age journey and subsequent tumultuous life of Mary Magdalene is revealed as she meets Christ and influences the genesis of Christianity. The mere fact that Mary Magdelene is mentioned at least 12 times within the four Gospels (more than most of the apostles) tells me how important she is to biblical tradition. In this well researched and creatively imagined story, the other Mary comes alive for readers and reveals more about this mysterious woman. Kathryn Johnson, Author of The Gentleman Poet. The author has done a lovely job of researching and imaging Marys life, perspectives and thoughts. It is very comprehensive and my own eyes grew misty as I reached the end of the book and thus the end of Marys life. Elizabeth Zack

Mary appears only a few times in the Bible, but those few passages come at crucial moments. Catholics believe that Mary is the ever-virgin Mother of God, the Queen of Heaven and Earth. But she also was a human being--a woman who made a journey of faith through various trials and uncertainties and endured her share of suffering. Even with her unique graces and vocation, Mary remains a woman we can relate to and from whom we have much to learn. In Walking with Mary, Edward Sri looks at the crucial passages in the Bible concerning Mary and offers insight about the Blessed Mother's faith and devotion that we can apply in our daily lives. We follow her step-by-step through the New Testament account of her life, reflecting on what the Scriptures tell us about how she responded to the dramatic events unfolding around her. “This book is the fruit of my personal journey of studying Mary through the Scriptures, from her initial calling in Nazareth to her painful experience at the cross,” writes Edward Sri “It is intended to be a highly readable, accessible work that draws on wisdom from the Catholic tradition, recent popes, and biblical scholars of a variety of perspectives and traditions. With the riches of these insights, we will ponder what her journey of faith may have been like in order to draw out spiritual lessons for our own walk with God.” He add, “It is my hope, therefore, that whether you are of a Catholic, Protestant, or other faith background, this book may help you to know, understand, and love Mary more, and that it may inspire you to walk in her footsteps as a faithful disciple of the Lord in your own pilgrimage of faith.”

Anthropological Perspectives On Aging written by Britteny M. Howell and has been published by University Press of Florida this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-02-21 with Social Science categories.

An in-depth and wide-ranging approach to the study of older adults in society Taking a holistic approach to the study of aging, this volume uses biological, archaeological, medical, and cultural perspectives to explore how older adults have functioned in societies around the globe and throughout human history. As the world’s population over 65 years of age continues to increase, this wide-ranging approach fills a growing need for both academics and service professionals in gerontology, geriatrics, and related fields. Case studies from the United States, Tibet, Turkey, China, Nigeria, and Mexico provide examples of the ways age-related changes are influenced by environmental, genetic, sociocultural, and political-economic variables. Taken together, they help explain how the experience of aging varies across time and space. These contributions from noted anthropological scholars examine evolutionary and biological understandings of human aging, the roles of elders in various societies, issues of gender and ageism, and the role of chronic illness and “successful aging” among older adults. This volume highlights how an anthropology of aging can illustrate how older adults adapt to shifting life circumstances and environments, including changes to the ways in which individuals and families care for them. The research in Anthropological Perspectives on Aging can also help researchers, students, and practitioners reach across disciplines to address age discrimination and help improve health outcomes throughout the life course.

The New Perspective on Mary and Martha gives Mary and Martha a total makeover. No longer is this familiar passage about prioritizing spiritual pursuits over the tyranny of the practical. The results of a close reading of the text and careful exegesis of the Greek has Martha escaping the kitchen and Mary is not even in the house! Martha is still overly worried, not about housework, but over the much more understandable concern about her (younger) sister. Mary, who is out of the village, follows her call, ministering on the road with Jesus. Luke 10:38-42 is about discipleship, ministry, trust, and the new family of Jesus.
