Pubblicato in origine nel 1932, riunendo saggi apparsi negli anni precedenti, e poi ristampato nel 1949 e nel 1971 con aggiornamenti, questo libro risulta di una sconvolgente attualità, tale da poter essere ancora oggi utilizzato come un illuminante manuale per orientarsi nel babelico “spiritualismo contemporaneo” degli anni 2000 e per evitarne le trappole. Infatti, ancora oggi sono numerosi gli ambienti che si interessano al cosiddetto “sovrasensibile” e che riscoprono dottrine “occulte” ed esotiche, dandosi talvolta anche a pratiche evocatorie, cercando esperienze inusitate, votandosi a eccessi “contestativi”. Maschera e volto dello spiritualismo contemporaneo è stato uno dei primissimi libri, all’inizio degli anni Trenta del Novecento, a mettere in guardia profeticamente contro questi pericoli.
