Estes objetivos, não raramente, têm estreita ligação com a atividade profissional do autor e de quais deficiências que encontrou nesta trajetória, geralmente abrangendo muitos anos de suas atividades, incluindo os anos de formação. No caso da redação dos três volumes de Materiais Elétricos, influenciados sensivelmente por um ano de aperfeiçoamento no exterior, e da simultânea atividade do autor nas áreas de ensino, de atividade na área industrial de empresas do ramo eletro-mecânico e de projetos, e de uma longa atuação no ramo editorial, produzindo textos para revistas técnicas e livros, os objetivos claros que se destacaram foram os de levar para o leitor em geral e o aluno de escolas de engenharia e técnicas em particular, foi o de enfocar os "porquês" de um dado componente ser construído com determinadas matérias-primas, e acompanhar estas matérias-primas no seu comportamento diante da variação de condições de uso, como temperatura, umidade etc. Desta forma, viriam respostas a outra questão: qual a durabilidade ou vida útil que o componente apresenta, e quais as razões desta durabilidade? Tudo isto, sempre que possível, alicerçado nas normas técnicas da ABNT/COBEI, atendendo ao INMETRO no que se refere às Grandezas e Unidades de Medida do Sistema SI.
