Individual Based Methods In Forest Ecology And Management written by Arne Pommerening and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-09-17 with Technology & Engineering categories.
Model-driven individual-based forest ecology and individual-based methods in forest management are of increasing importance in many parts of the world. For the first time this book integrates three main fields of forest ecology and management, i.e. tree/plant interactions, biometry of plant growth and human behaviour in forests. Individual-based forest ecology and management is an interdisciplinary research field with a focus on how the individual behaviour of plants contributes to the formation of spatial patterns that evolve through time. Key to this research is a strict bottom-up approach where the shaping and characteristics of plant communities are mostly the result of interactions between plants and between plants and humans. This book unites important methods of individual-based forest ecology and management from point process statistics, individual-based modelling, plant growth science and behavioural statistics. For ease of access, better understanding and transparency the methods are accompanied by R code and worked examples.

Modeling Forest Trees And Stands written by Harold E. Burkhart and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-04-27 with Technology & Engineering categories.
Drawing upon a wealth of past research and results, this book provides a comprehensive summary of state-of-the-art methods for empirical modeling of forest trees and stands. It opens by describing methods for quantifying individual trees, progresses to a thorough coverage of whole-stand, size-class and individual-tree approaches for modeling forest stand dynamics, growth and yield, moves on to methods for incorporating response to silvicultural treatments and wood quality characteristics in forest growth and yield models, and concludes with a discussion on evaluating and implementing growth and yield models. Ideal for use in graduate-level forestry courses, this book also provides ready access to a plethora of reference material for researchers working in growth and yield modeling.

Publisher: Oxford University Press
Release Date : 1993-03-04
Forest Dynamics written by Daniel B. Botkin and has been published by Oxford University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1993-03-04 with Technology & Engineering categories.
Over the past two decades, the author has developed and refined an extremely useful simulation model of forest growth. The JABOWA model was the first successful application of digital computer simulation to a complex natural ecosystem. Effects of global warming, acid rain, and commercial forest harvesting practices have been analyzed with this model. Offering a fresh perspective on ecological phenomena, Forest Dynamics provides all the information necessary to understand and use the model. Written for students and professionals in forestry and ecology, the book sets the forest model within the broader context of the science of ecology and the ecological issues that confront society in the management of forests. It also explains the theoretical foundations of the model.

Modelling Forest Growth And Yield written by Jerome K. Vanclay and has been published by Oxford University Press, USA this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1994 with Computers categories.
This book provides an introduction to growth modeling in mixed forests, with emphasis on the tropics. It is not intended as a 'how-to' manual with step-by-step instructions, as there is no single best way to model such forests. Rather it reviews different approaches, highlighting their strengths and limitations. It emphasizes empirical-statistical models rather than physiological-process type models, because of the proven utility of the former in forest management. Each chapter includes exercises that can be completed manually or on PC and spreadsheet. The book will serve as a reference manual for practitioners and as a text for advanced level students taking courses in forest modeling.
