Hysteresis And Eddy Current Effects In Electrical Machines written by Denis O'Kelly and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1973 with categories.

This thesis describes an investigation of the steady-state power losses, with dynamic excitation, in ferromagnetic materials and the performance and analysis of induction, hysteresis and synchronous machines with particular reference to hysteresis and eddy-current effects. Representation of a hysteresis loop by an elliptical characteristic, as used extensively in this thesis, permits a ferromagnetic material to be represented by its complex permeability. Although this concept has been employed by several previous authors including Butler and Mang, and Miyairi and Kataoka, the application of the concept to include non-linearity and eddy-current effects and a field-theory approach to the analysis of rotating machine performance is novel as far as the author is aware. Consideration is also given to the representation of hysteresis by concentrated coils in the analysis of different types of rotating machines thus permitting the derivation of appropriate equivalent circuits.

Today, switched reluctance machines (SRMs) play an increasingly important role in various sectors due to advantages such as robustness, simplicity of construction, low cost, insensitivity to high temperatures, and high fault tolerance. They are frequently used in fields such as aeronautics, electric and hybrid vehicles, and wind power generation. This book is a comprehensive resource on the design, modeling, and control of SRMs with methods that demonstrate their good performance as motors and generators.

Now electrical engineers can find comprehensive, practical information on the design, characterization, and operation of electromagnetic protective devices used in power systems. What's more, with this reference they'll not only discover how to safeguard against energy surges, but also how to capture, store, transport, and use these electromagnetic energies. Excellent coverage of such protective devices as lumped resistors, low dielectric capacitors, saturable resistors, and specific hybrid forms is included. And, by using clear, practical diagrams, the book effectively illustrates power system protection through relay coordination under all fault conditions, as well as electromagnetic device protection through design aspects. The role of symmetrical components in calculating unbalanced systems, and the part solid-state technology will pay in improving future power system operations are also discussed in detail.

Switched reluctance motors have steadily increased in commercial importance since their introduction in the early 1980's, while their technology - especially of their electronic control - has made great progress. Their unique characteristics introduce a delicate balance, in which the copper and iron are diminished in quantity, complexity and cost, in favour of a greater reliance on sophistication in the controller. Thus mastery of the control is the key challenge in the application of these machines. This book is intended for engineer's in industry and in the large research community in electrical machines and drives. It introduces the techniques for controlling switched reluctance machines, starting from first principles and building up to the most advanced forms of sensorless control. It covers the recent advances in electronic control and includes aspects of motion control, automation, acoustic noise reduction and energy efficiency. Covers the recent changes in control technology Includes up-to-date equipment and methods Contains applications and case studies
