The authors present a preliminary measurement of the time-dependent CP asymmetry for the neutral B-meson decay into the CP = +1 final state K{sub S}{sup 0}{pi}{sup 0}{pi}{sup 0}, with K{sub S}{sup 0} {yields} {pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup -} and {pi}{sup 0} {yields} {gamma}{gamma}. They use a sample of approximately 227 million B-meson pairs recorded at the {Upsilon}(4S) resonance by the BABAR detector at the PEP-II B-Factory at SLAC. From a maximum likelihood fit they extract the mixing-induced CP-violation parameter S{sub K{sub S}{sup 0}{pi}{sup 0}{pi}{sup 0}} = 0.84 {+-} 0.71(stat) {+-} 0.08(syst) and the direct CP-violation parameter C{sub K{sub S}{sup 0}}{pi}{sup 0}{pi}{sup 0} = 0.27 {+-} 0.52(stat) {+-} 0.13(syst), where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic.

We present a measurement of the time-dependent CP-violating (CPV) asymmetries in B[sup 0] [yields] K[sub s][sup 0][pi][sup 0] decays based on 124 million [Upsilon](4S) [yields] B[bar B] decays collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy B Factory at SLAC. In a sample containing 122 [+-] 16 signal decays, we obtain the magnitude of the direct CPV asymmetry C[sub K[sub S][sup 0][pi][sup 0]] = 0.40 [sub -0.28][sup +0.27] [+-] 0.09 and the magnitude of the CPV asymmetry in the interference between mixing and decay S[sub K[sub S][sup 0][pi][sup 0]] = 0.48 [sub -0.47][sup +0.38] [+-] 0.06 where the first error is statistical and the second systematic.

For a long time after the discovery in 1964, by Christenson, Cronin, Fitch and Turlay, that the long-lived neutral kaon decays both into three and into two pions, which has since been taken as proof of CP violation, successive new and more precise experiments confirmed the original evidence and provided results compatible with a phenomenological description confining the CP violation to the mixing between neutral kaons and antikaons. However the Standard Model, with three generations of quarks, linking as it does CP violation to the presence of a single non trivial phase in the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa quark mixing matrix, implies that if CP violation exists at all, then it is a general property of weak interactions, appearing in transitions were amplitudes involving all three quark families interfere with each other, producing effects with a magnitude related to that of the CKM coefficients. This fact has stimulated an impressive amount of theoretical work leading in many cases to precise predictions. This publication reviews the field, from both the theoretical and experimental point of view, while planning for the forthcoming experimentation at LHC and considering possible new facilities for kaon, B meson and neutrino physics. We measure the time-dependent CP asymmetry parameters in B° 2!KK−K° based on a data sample of approximately 227 million B-meson pairs recorded at the [Upsilon](4S) resonance with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II B-meson Factory at SLAC. We reconstruct two-body B° decays to [phi](1020)K{sub s}° and [phi](1020)K{sub L}°, and the three-body decay KK−K{sub s}° with [phi](1020)K{sub s}° excluded. For the B° 2![phi]K° decays, they measure sin 2[beta]{sub eff}([phi]K°) = +0.50 ± 0.25(stat){sub -0.04}{sup +0.07}(syst). The B° 2!K+K−K{sub s}° decays are dominated by K+K− S-wave, as determined from an angular analysis; they measure sin 2[beta]{sub eff} (K+K−K{sub s}°) = +0.55 ± 0.22(stat) ± 0.04(syst) ± 0.11(CP), where the last error is due to the uncertainty in the fraction of CP-even contributions to the decay amplitude. We find no evidence for direct CP violation.
