Events are selected by completely reconstructing one B and searching for a reconstructed charmed particle in the rest of the event. The authors measure the number of charmed and of anit-charmed particles per B decay and derive the total charm yield per B[sup -] decay, n[sub c][sup -] = 1.313 [+-] 0.037 [+-] 0.037 [+-] 0.062[sub -0.043][sup +0.063], and per [bar B][sup 0] decay, n[sub c][sup 0] = 1.276 [+-] 0.062 [+-] 0.058[sub -0.046][sup +0.066] where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second is systematic, and the third reflects the charm branching-fraction uncertainties.

We present a study of B semileptonic decays into charm final states based on 211.7 fb{sup -1} of data collected at the {Upsilon}(4S) resonance with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II e{sup +}e{sup -} storage ring. Using a novel technique based on the simultaneous fit of a set of variables reconstructed on the recoil of a B tagged in an hadronic decay mode, we measure the relative branching fractions {Lambda}(B{sup -} {yields} D{sup 0}{ell}{sup -}{bar {nu}}{sub {ell}}) = 0.611 {+-} 0.022 (stat.) {+-} 0.027 (syst.) and {Lambda}(B{sup -} {yields} D**{sup 0})(D{sup (*)}{pi}){ell}{sup -}{bar {nu}}{sub {ell}}/{Lambda}(B{sup -} {yields} DX{ell}{sup -}{bar {nu}}{sub {ell}}) = 0.173 {+-} 0.017 (stat.) {+-} 0.021 (syst.).

From the B[sup 0][yields] D[sub s][sup (*)+] D*[sup -] angular distributions, they measure the fraction of longitudinal polarization[Lambda][sub L]/[Lambda]= (51.9[+-] 5.0[+-] 2.8)%, which is consistent with theoretical predictions based on factorization.

Results are based on a sample of 86 million B[bar B] pairs collected with the BABAR detector at the SLAC e[sup +]e[sup -] B Factory. We measure the branching fractions [Beta](B[sup +] [yields] [eta][sub c]K[sup +]) = (1.34 [+-] 0.09 [+-] 0.13 [+-] 0.41) x 10[sup -3] and [Beta](B[sup 0] [yields] [eta][sub c]K[sup 0]) = (1.18 [+-] 0.16 [+-] 0.13 [+-] 0.37) x 10[sup -3], where the first error is statistical, the second is systematic, and the third reflects the [eta][sub c] branching fraction uncertainty. In addition, we search for B [yields] [eta][sub c]K events with [eta][sub c] [yields] 2(K[sup +]K[sup -]) and [eta][sub c] [yields] [phi][phi] and determine the [eta][sub c] decay branching fraction ratios [Beta]([eta][sub c] [yields] 2(K[sup +]K[sup -]))/[Beta]([eta][sub c] [yields] K[bar K][pi]) = (2.3 [+-] 0.7 [+-] 0.6) x 10[sup -2] and [Beta]([eta][sub c] [yields] [phi][phi])/[Beta]([eta][sub c] [yields] K[bar K][pi]) = (5.5 [+-] 1.4 [+-] 0.5) x 10[sup -2].

Presented here are the results of a direct search for flavor changing neutral currents via the rare process Z[sup 0] [yields] bs and a measurement of R[sub bs] = [Lambda](Z[sup 0] [yields] bs)/[Lambda](Z[sup 0] [yields] hadrons). Because the decays Z[sup 0] [yields] b[bar b] and Z[sup 0] [yields] c[bar c] contribute significant backgrounds to Z[sup 0] [yields] bs, simultaneous measurements of R[sub b] = [Lambda](Z[sup 0] [yields] b[bar b])/[Lambda](Z[sup 0] [yields] hadrons) and R[sub c] = [Lambda](Z[sup 0] [yields] c[bar c])/[Lambda](Z[sup 0] [yields] hadrons) were also made. The standard double tag technique was extended and self calibrating tags were used for s, c, and b quarks. These measurements were made possible by the unique capabilities of the SLAC Large Detector (SLD) at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center (SLAC): The b and c tags relied upon the SLD's VXD3 307 megapixel CCD vertex detector for topological and kinematic reconstruction of the B and D decay vertices; the s tag identified K[sup [+-]] mesons using the particle identification capabilities of SLD's Cherenkov Ring Imaging Detector (CRID), and K[sub S][sup 0] mesons and [Lambda] hadrons by kinematic reconstruction of their decay vertices in SLD's 5120 channel central drift chamber (CDC) particle tracking system.
