Academic Paper from the year 2023 in the subject Politics - Region: Africa, , language: English, abstract: The purpose of this study is to determine the level of knowledge, attitude and practices towards meat hygiene among butchers in Savelugu in the Savelugu Municipality of the Northern region of Ghana. Ghana's livestock industry is essential to the country's development and progress economically, as seen by the over 3 million animals sent there each year. Also, the industry contributes to 60% of new job possibilities while also making up 40% and 80% of Ghana's GDP and foreign exchange profits, respectively. Meat hygiene is most simply defined as the conditions and actions required to guarantee the appropriateness and safety of meat at all points in the supply chain for meat and goods associated to it. The majority of meat inspectors in underdeveloped nations and rural abattoirs lack the necessary skills, expertise, and information to properly assess the hygienic conditions of the organs, meat, and corpses of the killed animals. Although meat contains a high percentage of nutrients, it is frequently contaminated, which can cause food-related ailments in consumers. In addition, inappropriate handling of food is the main contributor to outbreaks of food-related diseases, including food poisoning. Raw meat is particularly susceptible to contamination. Most often, contamination occurs when food that doesn't need to be cooked, such salad, is prepared on a surface that was previously used to prepare raw meat without being properly cleaned. Before an animal is killed, it must be carefully examined, and there must be an inspection procedure going on as the animal is being killed. These efforts are very important for preventing animal-related diseases and making sure that the public receives nutritious meat. Many developing nations' slaughterhouses lack sufficient slaughtering and processing equipment, clean water sources, effective sewage or waste disposal systems, and refrigerated facilities. For instance, in Ghana, this has resulted in contaminated meat and inadequate waste disposal practises.

Master's Thesis from the year 2011 in the subject Computer Science - Didactics, University of Twente (Behavioural Science), course: ICT in science and mathematics - Educational Science and Technology, language: English, abstract: This study investigated the ways through which pre-service science and mathematics teachers at Dar es Salaam University College of Education (DUCE) can acquire competencies for integrating technology pedagogy and content in teaching. Specifically the study investigated the preservice teachers' ICT integration competencies; practices that can be effective in enhancing pre-service science and mathematics teachers' competency in integrating technology, pedagogy and content; as well as the impact of those practices in the development of preservice teachers' technological pedagogical content knowledge. An action research approach was employed in the study, employing the pre and post-intervention assessment of preservice teachers' knowledge on technology, pedagogy and content. Planed interventions were carried out during the study, to enable preservice teachers to identify areas of weaknesses in their technology integration competencies, and propose alternative approaches for addressing the identified weaknesses. Student questionnaire, instructor interview and observation checklist were used to collect date before, during and after intervention. Researcher's log book, digital camera and audio recorder were used in recording events and activities taking place during the study. Findings revealed that when preservice teachers engage in hands on activities such as microteaching, lesson design and the opportunity to share their ideas with peers, they easily developed their technological pedagogical content knowledge. An analysis of knowledge change after the intervention, showed a significant difference between pre-intervention and post intervention preservice teachers' knowledge of TPACK. Everywhere in the world, small agricultural producers are entrepreneurs, traders, investors, and consumers, all rolled into one. In all these roles, small agricultural households constantly seek to use available financial instruments to improve their productivity and secure the best possible consumption and investment choices for their families. But the package of financial services available to small farmers in developing countries is severely limited, especially for those living in remote areas with no access to basic market infrastructure.

About four out of five people in low- and middle-income countries who need services for mental, neurological and substance-use conditions do not receive them. Even when available, the interventions often are neither evidence-based nor of high quality. WHO recently launched the mental health Gap Action Programme (mhGAP) for low- and middle-income countries with the objective of scaling up care for mental, neurological and substance-use disorders. This mhGAP Intervention Guide has been developed to facilitate mhGAP-related delivery of evidence-based interventions in non-specialised health-care settings. The Intervention Guide is brief so as to facilitate interventions by busy non-specialists in low- and middle-income countries. It describes in detail what to do but does not go into descriptions of how to do. It is important that the non-specialist health-care providers are trained in using the mhGAP Intervention Guide in assessing and managing people with mental, neurological and substance-use disorders.

Fatness And The Maternal Body written by Maya Unnithan-Kumar and has been published by Berghahn Books this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011-07-30 with Social Science categories.

Obesity is a rising global health problem. On the one hand a clearly defined medical condition, it is at the same time a corporeal state embedded in the social and cultural perception of fatness, body shape and size. Focusing specifically on the maternal body, contributors to the volume examine how the language and notions of obesity connect with, or stand apart from, wider societal values and moralities to do with the body, fatness, reproduction and what is considered 'natural'. A focus on fatness in the context of human reproduction and motherhood offers instructive insights into the global circulation and authority of biomedical facts on fatness (as 'risky' anti-fit, for example). As with other social and cultural studies critical of health policy discourse, this volume challenges the spontaneous connection being made in scientific and popular understanding between fatness and ill health.
