Geometry Mechanics And Dynamics written by Dong Eui Chang and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-04-16 with Mathematics categories.

This book illustrates the broad range of Jerry Marsden’s mathematical legacy in areas of geometry, mechanics, and dynamics, from very pure mathematics to very applied, but always with a geometric perspective. Each contribution develops its material from the viewpoint of geometric mechanics beginning at the very foundations, introducing readers to modern issues via illustrations in a wide range of topics. The twenty refereed papers contained in this volume are based on lectures and research performed during the month of July 2012 at the Fields Institute for Research in Mathematical Sciences, in a program in honor of Marsden's legacy. The unified treatment of the wide breadth of topics treated in this book will be of interest to both experts and novices in geometric mechanics. Experts will recognize applications of their own familiar concepts and methods in a wide variety of fields, some of which they may never have approached from a geometric viewpoint. Novices may choose topics that interest them among the various fields and learn about geometric approaches and perspectives toward those topics that will be new for them as well.

One of modern science's most famous and controversial figures, Jerzy Plebanski was an outstanding theoretical physicist and an author of many intriguing discoveries in general relativity and quantum theory. Known for his exceptional analytic talents, explosive character, inexhaustible energy, and bohemian nights with brandy, coffee, and enormous amounts of cigarettes, he was dedicated to both science and art, producing innumerable handwritten articles — resembling monk's calligraphy — as well as a collection of oil paintings. As a collaborator but also an antagonist of Leopold Infeld's (a coauthor of Albert Einstein's), Plebanski is recognized for designing the “heavenly” and “hyper-heavenly” equations, for introducing new variables to describe the gravitational field, for the exact solutions in Einstein's gravity and in quantum theory, for his classification of the tensor of matter, for some outstanding results in nonlinear electrodynamics, and for analyzing general relativity with continuous sources long before Chandrasekhar et al.A tribute to Plebański's contributions and the variety of his interests, this is a unique and wide-ranging collection of invited papers, covering gravity quantization, strings, branes, supersymmetry, ideas on the deformation quantization, and lesser known results on the continuous Baker-Campbell-Hausdorff problem.

A Survey Of Knot Theory written by Akio Kawauchi and has been published by Birkhäuser this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-12-06 with Mathematics categories.

Knot theory is a rapidly developing field of research with many applications not only for mathematics. The present volume, written by a well-known specialist, gives a complete survey of knot theory from its very beginnings to today's most recent research results. The topics include Alexander polynomials, Jones type polynomials, and Vassiliev invariants. With its appendix containing many useful tables and an extended list of references with over 3,500 entries it is an indispensable book for everyone concerned with knot theory. The book can serve as an introduction to the field for advanced undergraduate and graduate students. Also researchers working in outside areas such as theoretical physics or molecular biology will benefit from this thorough study which is complemented by many exercises and examples.

The problems considered range from basic theoretical issues in the calculus of variations - such as infinite dimensional Hamilton Jacobi equations, saddle point principles, and issues of unique continuation - to ones focusing on application and computation, where theoretical tools are tuned to more specifically defined problems.

Real And Complex Geometry written by Liviu Ornea and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2025-08-02 with Mathematics categories.

The book covers a wide area of hot subjects in real and complex differential geometry, such as conformal geometry, special holonomy, Sasakian geometry, Kähler and non-Kähler metrics, classification of compact complex surfaces, Einstein metrics, bi-Hermitian geometry, non-integrable almost complex structures, etc. All of these are rather close to Paul Gauduchon’s themes and influential results in the past fifty years. The reader will find fifteen papers – a few surveys, but the majority containing new and exciting results. The book thus gives an idea of the present research interests of some of the best experts today in real and complex differential geometry including Vestislav Apostolov, Florin Belgun, Charles Boyer, Georges Dloussky, Anna Fino, Gueo Grantcharov, Claude LeBrun, Andrei Moroianu, Massimiliano Pontecorvo, Simon Salamon, Andrew Swann, Adriano Tomassini, Valentino Tosatti, and Misha Verbitsky.

The XIIIth Bialowieza Summer Workshop was held from July 9 to 15, 1994. While still within the general framework of Differential Geometric Methods in Physics, the XnIth Workshop was expanded in scope to include quantum groups, q-deformations and non-commutative geometry. It is expected that lectures on these topics will now become an integral part of future workshops. In the more traditional areas, lectures were devoted to topics in quantization, field theory, group representations, coherent states, complex and Poisson structures, the Berry phase, graded contractions and some infinite-dimensional systems. Those of us who have taken part in the evolution of the workshops over the years, feel a good measure of satisfaction with the excellent quality of the papers presented, in particular the mathematical rigour and novelty. Each year a significant number of new results are presented and future directions of research are discussed. Their freshness and immediacy inevitably leads to intense discussions and an exchange of ideas in an informal and physically charming environment. The present workshop also had a higher attendance than its predecessors, with ap proximately 65 registered participants. As usual, there was a large number of graduate students and young researchers among them.
